stock internals...what hp/psi to stop at for tune?
ok ive read through 280 pages on h23 turbos. but nothing that will answer my particular question. i dont know if i should be looking at hp or psi.
so im going to be running my stock internal h23 for maybe 6 months. i have a drag 4 kit, rc 750's, hondata s300, walbro 255 and all 3" exhuast parts. now when i get it tuned should i be looking more to stop at a certain hp area or stop at a certain psi. like if i hit say 265hp(just an example) on 7 psi should i back it down to hit less hp? if you need more info please let me know. thanks

I think I kinda get your question.
You stop at a desired horsepower rating because remember a disco potato is going to produce less CFM at 5 PSI then a T66 is. So using PSI render yourself a "safe" zone is totally useless at that point there.
IF you add an exhaust 3in exhaust on the same set up that ran 7psi with a 2in one you'll make more power even without upping the boost.
so yes use horsepower if your worried about blowing your internals because of too much boost.

Its going to come down to what your tuner feels safe tuning it to, because in the long run, he is the one that holds your motors life in his hand.
Ask him, that will also tell a lot about a tuner depending on what he says.

You can make a ton of power on stock motors, but the quesiton is how long will it last. Stock ringlandings are not supposed to handle that much power. While i am sure since Jeff did the tune its flawless, but hp breaks things on stock internals, plain and simple.
Still pretty badass to make that much power, and when people ask you can honestly tell them its stock from the headgasket to the oil pan
