Default Stock evo turbo(16g) good for a 250whp b17?

I have a stock b17 im going to be turboing over the summer. My neighbor who owns a mitsubishi evo just bought a huge turbo and is selling his stock one. im sure that he will sell it to me for pretty cheap. my goal is around 250whp. What do you guys think? Will the stock evo turbo give me the power im looking for or should I look into aftermarket. Ive never had a turbo car before and I'm doing as much research as I can to learn more. Any input is greatly appriciated. Thanks

What year Evo is it? If it is a Evo IX then that is an excellent turbo, if it's an early Evo it's still a good turbo but you will want to change out the hot side to 10.5. Your biggest challenge will be finding a manifold set up to accept that turbo. You might end up having to get a custom one. There was a dyno of an Evo IX turbo on a B18 (not sure if it was a B or C) but it had a great powerband and over 300 whp.

The evo is either a 8 or a 9 im not one hundred percent sure. how much would i be looking at (ball park figure) for a custom manifold?. The only reason I would pick this turbo up was to save some money. If its going to cost me more money in the long run with custom work i think finding a turbo that will fit easier might be a safer bet for me. I want to hit 250whp but I also want a turbo with room for improvement (up to 300whp eventually). any suggestions on size

I found a good deal on rebuilt garret t25 for $150. It was sent back to garret to be rebuilt and hasnt been used since. would this turbo meet my goals? I'm sorry to ask so many questions I just want to make sure I'm getting the right parts

16g is better than the t25

if you dont want to pay for a custom manifold stay away from the 16g, but if not they are excellent turbo's for around 300whp
