Stock D16z6 sleeves
I am thinking of rebuilding my engine soon, as it is coming to be time for it to get a new life. Well unless, I decide to swap out the single slam. But in any event, I had a question about the stock sleeves. With boost, does anybody know about how much they can tolerate? I know the pistons are about 200 hp before you start having problems, is this the same case with the sleeves as well?
Also, would 12:1 boosted with a tune be too bad? I figure with a tune it would be alright because that is the point of a tune. But I don't know a whole lot about turbo, just something that has been in the back of my mind so I thought I better research.
And before anyone says anything, the search wasn't working.

stock sleeves have taken upwards of 500hp, its all about the tune, butttt.....12:1 compression before boost would blow up your car within the day you started it, thats if your aren't talking about all that static compression crap, generally you cr should be cr<9.4 or less than 9.4......your stock compression, with some better pistons as well

so sleeves are not really a necessity for a street car then. I have no aspirations of exceeding 500whp, and I would plan to get it tuned. I just didn't want to go too low with compression til it would actually get boosted. And you just said better pistons, are the stock rods fine? Because I think they suck seeing as though I shattered one before.

was this also a dd car? I know you loose some reliability with turbo, but I don't want to go nuts that I have to **** my pants in fear every day I drive to work.
13 seconds on stock internals, what numbers was that running? Did you blow it up?

i made 405 on stock sleeves...the most you will make on a stock port head is going to be around 450...the sleeves will take more than the rest of the motor...

And cost a lot more too. I was just looking to do something cheap and easy. My rings are trash and I am getting sick of the smoke, so I am just looking for a cheap option because I might be getting a b16 swap for super cheap thanks to the justice system.

I was going to ask where the 12:1 came in at as well??
Your stock sleeves will more than likely support the power you want. There have also been many success stories w/ the cheap vitaras. FJT carries them, you may want to look into them.

yeah the vitara/ eagle combo is awesome when it comes to performance per dollar. You can have a built z6 for pretty damn cheap, then piece a turbo kit together and your going to be right on par with a nice b series swap like a b18c or something, then you can walk it up and down the block everyday.

Re: (quicksilver1689)
The 12:1 came in because I have heard of using ZC pistons, which would raise the compression. So I was just looking at that option because that seemed a lot cheaper. The Vitaras are cheap, but I have heard complaints of them making a lot of noise.
I would hope with a rebuild and a turbo kit, I would be able to run down some b series. I am just trying to learn some stuff of what to go with. I just thought it would be fun to do a little something to the single slam for now.

the vitara/eagle combo is the best bang for the buck combo out there, period. (ask me how i know )
vitaras dont make any more noise than a normal forged piston unless your cylinder walls are beat to ****...if thats the case, FJT now sells 75.5mm vitaras

Don't use the PM7s, the Vitaras are about the same price.
A built/turboed D won't have to run down a N/A B, it's the other way around.
