STI options for more AWHP
So i am trying to sell my block and buy a new STI, and i was wondering what mods took well to your wrx. The thing is, like my SI, i will get bored with it and want more power, but with a new STI i will want to keep my warrenty in tack. Just wondering what mods i could do that would make more #'s and still be able to remove easy enough to bring it in to the dealer for warrenty work (if needed) Also i know this is "honda"-tech and not "Subaru"-tech but there is just no site out there that compares to this one My plans are a turbo back exhaust and reflash, but maybe a stand alone ecu and tune might be better? thanks guys

Re: STI options for more AWHP (Benjithx)
easy street would probably be your best bet for the whole warranty issue, subaru seems to like them... alot
but air power systems (aps) http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/
seems to have the best products imo

an exhaust voids the warranty....sorry....so if you want power, don't plan on keeping that warranty too long.
on another note, the sti blocks are good to like 550whp stock!!!

depending on how much power you are looking to make, you might want to check out our GT35R kit, available only through KingPin Performance.
heres some more info: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1119051
http://www.dragsport.com/issue...shtml
we've yet to have a car using this kit make less than 500awhp...
edit: sorry, just saw the warranty mention

Re: STI options for more AWHP (Benjithx)
Ive been researching STI's a lot lately.
Exhaust
3 or 3.5" catback exhaust
Cat delete pipe
HKS downpipe (non bellmouth)
Ultimate racing's External W/G up pipe (fits with HKS downpipe)
-Obviously you would need to weld the Internal W/G shut
Computer
Ekutec reflash or Cobb AP (not reccomended for more mods than BPU) or Utec
Intake/Turbo
K&N Shorty Intake
FPgreen turbo
Plus a custom tune to make sure everything is ok.
All in all it would run you about $4500 and you could run 11's if you can pull 1.6s out of the hole.
Thats how I would do it atleast

Re: STI options for more AWHP (Boltz)
Have you considered a Evo? Its easier to get nice numbers out of a evo then a sti. At least from what i seen. There are guys running mid to low 11's on stock evo turbo.

Re: STI options for more AWHP (STHPERFORMANCE)
Thats because the 4G63 has been around for 14-16 years, whereas the the EJ25 has been around for 2 years.
Modding the 4G63 is old news, everyone knows what to do
Modding the EJ25 is harder, less R&D, less time, less parts, etc.
Both are awesome cars

sorry brotha, not true. the only time that an aftermarket part is going to void a warranty is when the problem is directly associated with the aftermarket part that was put on.
i work at a subaru dealership, so i see quite a few modded WRXs and STIs come in with exhaust, intake systems, BOV ect.. and the only time that i have seen when a warranty was either voided or not covered was when this stupid *** 18 yo with a brand new STI that he put chargepiping, BOV, full 3" exhaust with up-pipe/down-pipe, fmic, and not a stich of aftermarket engine management. he said that he was "just driving normal going 20mph" when his rear axle unthreaded and popped out on him. well as it turns out, im friends with some of his friends, so when they told me that he was out "drifting", he his a dry spot on the pavement, instantly jerked the car and popped it out that way. so needless to say, his warranty was not covered in this situation because A) hes a dipshit and i don't like him from past experiences, so wasn't going to let him lie and get away with it and B) it was pretty obvious to the tech and service mgr. that it wasn't the case, so he went to a local shop, and i ended up selling them a rear axle for FULL price
sorry for the rant. but from what i've seen 3" exhaust, downpipe, some sort of open end intake and reflash or new eng. management would be where i would start

As the owner of a WRX... I second the EVO suggestion. Easier to make power, and more fun to drive. Test em both out before you decide. Also, be sure to check out NASIOC.com, as there is alot of misinfo in this thread.

with melted pistons, or cracked rods or w/e from running lean, i doubt they are gonna warranty it
and with a blown clutch or other items from too much power, i doubt they will warranty that either. . .

Exactly, thats why i am looking for mods that can be removed easily enough if i need to take it in. Would rather not replace turbo, weld anything and stuff like that

Re: STI options for more AWHP (m R g S r)
If a dealership told me my warranty was "voided" (which CANNOT be done, BTW)
because of a meter, or guage, or turbo timer. I don't know if i'd laugh, or smash his teeth out.
P.S. it is completely illegal to "void a warranty". They can refuse to cover warranty items that may be damaged by an aftermarket part, but putting on a BOV, isn't going to have any bearing on your brakes.
If you allow a dealership to tell you this, then you are a fool, or too soft.
As I stated earlier, there is ALOT of misinfo in this thread. If your are seriously considering an STi, check out NASIOC.com
