startinga new project LS on Boost. which stock pistons B16 or LS ????
ok guys iam gonna swap an ls into my ek coupe.
Iam also gonna throw on the smallest t3/t4 i can find. probably a .50 trim.
anyways, iam into oem stuff.
I want to semi build the block for a realible DD-T. (daliy driver turbo)
so far i've gotten
cometic 81 mm headgasket
arp ls rod bolts
arp ls head bolts
oem ls water pump and oil pump.
oem timing belt
now my question is, what stock pistons should i use b16 or ls.
I want to make just a minimal lag 300hp.
i heard that b16 pistons in an ls, will be brign you CR to 11.0- 1
will this be good on 8psi tuned on chrome.
any ls turbo w/ b16 pistons out there.
thanks

Stock cast pistons don't hold up too well to boost in the long run:
That was just the worst one; all the other pistons had cracks in the ringlands, but #2 actually had a piece broken all the way off(#2 had low compression, which is why the block was rebuilt). This was after about 2 years at 8-11psi on a MASE tune. Stock ringlands will give out eventually, it's just a matter of when. You might want to throw some forged internals in there while you have the bottom end apart and not worry about it.
