Starting troubles----1999 GSR turbo
I posted about this a little while back and checked most everything people suggested, but still i am stumped. My GSR wont start and i dont have any idea why.
**when the car died, it just shut off...it didn't sputter or hesitate, it just stopped like you shut off the key**
-checked spark by grounding each plug to the car and cranking
-rewired resistor box correctly
-replaced engine ground
-tried to use Ether to help start, but nothing
-both cams still turn so the timing belt is fine
-checked all fuses underhood and under the driver's side
We are now thinking that it has to be spark related. I just replaced the plugs a month ago and they have 0 miles on them, but i'm going to pull them tomorrow to check if they are alright still. Anyone have any suggestions??

havent checked the plugs yet, but it is getting fuel....gas or ether
Fuel pressure is set by the stock regulator
Timing.....

Will do, but i dont know what would have caused the original problem. The car just died and that couldn't have been due to the plugs...

we will check, but the problem that i keep coming back to is that the car was just driving along at 25mph and shut off....there is no way the timing belt would have skipped at those low speeds without any sign.
I think something in the ignition circuit fried....anyone??

Have you checked fuses? Go through all your fuses related to the ecm. Dont you have a tech that can help you. It shouldnt be too hard. If i had to guess though, it's spark related.

It takes about 5 minutes to check if you have spark you should at lest check that first before you start truble shooting.
You said that you did, does that mean you are getting spark.

A few years back I had a similar situation with my wife's 1993 integra. Since the car just died on the road I thought the timing belt broke, but after finding no problems with the belt I tried another (known good) distributor and it started right up. Good luck

the fuel pump primes....everything happens the way it should except for the fact that it doesn't start....i was just thinking of the ECU just in case....it was something i just hadn't considered

same thing happened to me at the drags. i was just moving up in the line, decided to let the car cool for a minute and when i tried to turn the car back on, nothing happened. everyone just helped push my car up past the line to the side. i trouble shooted for 15 minutes and everything seemed fine. i left the car for an hour, came back and it started up like normal. a guy at there kept telling me i broke my timing belt though. (i told him no way since i only had 60k on my motor. lol) but i would check for that.

dizzy is getting a thorough check tomorrow as well as all of the wiring again. I'm going to crank the hell out of it and see if i'm getting fuel....if not, i'm going to find a compression tester and see if i'm getting compression...although i think that the Ether would have proven a little something...if i didn't get as much as a backfire out of it, i'm pretty sure i'm not getting any spark at all....

my integra had the same problem it was the coil it was still putting out spark but weak not enough to start the car i took the coil from my civic it fired right up
if you know someone with a integra or civic borrow there coil for a minute to test it out
