Starting car with no radiator attached no coolant...??

Starting car with no radiator attached no coolant...??
Is the above likely to do any damage like warp the block etc.
I did this a couple of times with my just swapped in engine the car was under no real load backed it up 3 feet or so once and gave it a few revs EGTs were really low 'could hold hand outside the turbo no down pipe'.
I notice now I have installed the radiator is bubbles up a lot creates a white bubbly froth but it does go away coolant doesn't appear milky other then the bubbly froth.
I doubt all the air is out of the cooling system is this just the air or am I stuffed.
