Stage 3 Blowzilla vs Stage 5 SC61
OK here's the scenario. A friend of mine is doing an LS-T setup with a blox manifold. Due to the placement of the turbo he can't use his blowzilla (it's 4 bolt, S housing, stage 3 turbine wheel). I have a PTE SC61E from my setup I offered to trade him (5 bolt, E housing, stage 5 turbine wheel). My setup is as follows:
81.5mm Sleeved GSR, JE 9:1 Pistons, Eagle Rods, full valvetrain on stock gsr cams, Victor X Intake Manifold, 3” Exhaust, ramhorn manifold, 3" dp.
I had a revhard manifold before and the powerband of the sc61 was a lil laggy but not bad. I welcomed the idea of a quicker spooling turbo and the smaller wheel may not be too much of a restriction because i'm not aiming for massive power. however, i realized the quicker crossover might cause more traction issues. on the revhard setup @ 10psi, 1-2 shift would light the tires up but thru third it would hook fine.
Basically my question is what do you all think would be better? keep the stage 5 sc61 or swap for the stage 3?

hahaha
But really...the s-cover is GOOD and looks HOT, but the stage3 is going hurt topend power. If i recall the e-cover limits power maybe 10%. Id imagine the stage3 wheel would hurt a similar amount. Might cancel each other out maybe?
But whatever, that turbo is good for 600hp or something. Id say swap to the Blowzilla just for the hotness factor.

it's not about peak power really that i'm concerned with. it's powerband and traction. interms of cancelling out... it may apply. i read that the S cover does create a tad more lag (don't know if it's noticeable) as well as the fact that i'm moving from a cast manifold to a ramhorn which usually is slightly laggier (from what full-race posted).
anyoen care to chime in?

I like the Blowzilla stage III if the goal is under 520whp or so. I thoroghly enjoyed that turbo for some time. The SC61 is a good top end monster, but I didn't enjoy it on the street as much (call me nutz) it was too off-on for the response I needed.

that sounds about what i had in mind and what my guess was on the blowzilla. i'm only looking for about 350ish on pump and max out @ ~500-550whp (if i even push it that high). i decided on the blowzilla anyway because it's more convenient and my friend has helped me out big time in the past. i'm sure it'll be fine for my goals
