Oh ****!
That really sucks man...
At least you had your trusty JC Whitney pipes holding it in place!

Thanks for posting these pics! Just goes to show that all those people saying, "you never owned one so dont hate" are more wrong than right. Regardless of how well the manifold is braced, look at how cheap the welds and metal look?!
I can gaurentee I'd never give SSAC a dime and thats for damn sure!

i'm guessing you didn't brace the turbo from the block right? I know a few people around my are running these manifolds with no problems.

I'm all about Lovefab or Full-Race when I start my project. The more I read about the SS-series manifolds the more I find that they're all timebombs waiting to destroy projects .
Quality costs, but you can't put a monetary value on peace of mind .

It had extra braces added to the manifold/flange as you can see, as well as a brace coming from the block to the turbo. It's just a pile of **** manifold, with weaksauce metal.

Exactly. I was *hoping* that since this car doesn't see much road time{one w/e a month racing, if that}, that it would last a while....Well I was wrong the flange cracked the first time at the 300 mile mark. After that I removed, rebraced, and re-fitted the turbo. It lasted another 500 miles before just completely falling off. This was in traffic on my way home from work. The turbo impacted my new aluminum radiator and punched a hole in it as well.

It worked a total of about 800 miles before complete failure. My next mani will hopefully be an ERL. It's a stainless cast manifold. Due to my unique setup it's hard to tell weather the turbo will actually fit the block and chassis combination. IF it doesn't work i'll prolly be going with a totally custom manifold...

</TD></TR></TABLE>
Those braces are probably 99% of the reason your manifold failed in the manner that it did. The Stainless wanted to expand between the turbo and head flanges, then it DID, and DID so destructively. A properly designed bracing system will bolt to the turbo and hold it there withOUT the manifold. Then with small pressure applied, swing out away from the block to allow for explansion.
Just thought Id share my observations...
