Well I have finally killed my engine after 2 1/2 years of boost daily driven, I am guessing its a spun bearing, the cars making a crazy tapping noise it increases with rev's no smoke and still runs fine the noise it coming from cylinder 3 so it could still be a cracked piston also..

But I am thinking bearing anyway can you reuse the crank after something like this? It will be marked I guess what to you have to do to reuse it and how costly is it.

D16a6 it was a bit low on oil on the last dot on the dipstick, so that could be been a factor....

usually if the crank is too scarred up, you may not be able to reuse it. It's better just to get another crank.

I have a D16y8 short block if interested
It would be better to get a new crank if damage is slightly you can have it ground but you'd have to do you homework with bearing clearences

Make sure you take it a GOOD machine shop you still want the journals to have a radius

std / std is the only way to go for a performance motor. If it looks even vaguely damaged go get another crank.

Check your rocker arms first. If you spun a main, you would lose lots of oil pressure and the engine might last another 10 minutes...it is something else

We have taken off the rocker cover and had look about, mechanic reset the tappets to make sure it wasn't them.. Unfortunately I don't have an oil pressure gauge? He spun the crank a few times and couldn't see anhything? Appreciate the feedback

it was just a guess on the rocker arms
try this..run the engine and pull the plug wires one at a time...see if the noise goes away...that will isolate as to which cylinder has the problem

The noise is coming from the number 3 cylinder used a long handled screwdriver to listen to it. I'll go pull the plugs now and see how they look maybe it is a cracked piston??
