Spring/Ret kit needed for Crower 402T/403 cams if reving 7k or less?
Crower 402T and 403 cams for my LS Turbo Integra
Am I able to skip the spring/retainer kit for Crower cams if I keep my stock redline of less than 7000rpm? I know that Crower requires the spring and retainer kit for these cams. Are they saying this because the cams will break the stock setup when I rev over 7000rpm? They say that power is made from idle to 8k rpm plus. If these cams (402T/403)wont work, I'll have to buy the 402's and install them myself. Thanks in advance.

They are high lift cams. So you must use the spring they want you too. "They are not that cheap." I don't know where your from but the last time i check 300.00 is a lot. But The reason they want you to use them is the cam will push the valve more and if to much your lift, your spring will touch together and bind. Trust me you don't want a coil bind, if that happens your valve will drop or wear out your new camshaft in like 30 min.

Yeah, as stated above. You will need springs, plus you will want to rev the hell out of them.
As far as retainers, I would stay stock. Ive seen too many aftermarket retainers wear on the underside and eventually break. The stock steel ones are strong as hell and will get very little if any wear on them. Some of the top head builders recommend to stay with stock.
I need to get some of those 402T's in my motor, they are the only things i need now.

the price of the springs and retainers INSTALLED should cost about as much as the cams not installed...
