Spool comparison: 60 or 57trim T3/4 .63 turbine VS. GT30R .63 turbine
These 3 turbo's seem prime candidates for making 350+whp on a B18C (81.5mm bore) motor.
First Question: However, while the 60trim and 57trim hybrids yield nearly identical results in the midrange...would the GT30R with the bigger top end spool later than these particular hybrids? I'm asking cuz i have zero first hand knowledge of the GT30.
Second Question: I know alot of ppl like the GT30 variants also (GT3037/3071). So which GT30 would be best for somone crossing over from a 60trim hybrid over the the GT line of turbos and still wants to keep the 350-450 potential without too much wheel spin down low? (too quick of a spool is an often overlooked enemy of the FWD automobile)

Actually, from first hand experience, the spool characteristics down low between the GT30R and the 60 Trim hybrid that I make is about the same. The HUGE difference is the midrange to the top end that makes the GT30R so superior IMHO. On a GS-R that wants to make a 350whp with enough spool to really get it going without sacrificing the bottom end, the GT3037 configuration is hard to beat. Either way, because of the characteristics of this turbo on the B18C1, I would stick to the .63A/R with the 81.5mm spool. I like the response and midrange of this turbo for 81.5mm bore anyday of the week.

You really answered your own question. From my serious experience of the GT3071 GT2835 GT3037, GT3052, GT3040, and GT3540... to keep the wheel spin down, I really love the GT30R in a GT3037 configuration
Now.. Having said all that, I do also believe that when configured and created correctly, there are a COUPLE of turbos that are JOurnal bearing that can do the job seriously......
Is this JP? Hey!!!!! I have one of those that I created sitting here!!!
