SpeedFactory '09 Vitara D16 build
Well, we toyed w/the idea of going sleeved/forged this year, but decided to do another Vitara build instead and just step things up a bit from the old setup. We'll see how she holds up!
We are hoping for low 10's-high 9's at 142+mph this year. 500+whp.
Here are the current build specs, which may change slightly as we progress. I'll keep this updated as changes take place.
Engine:
Stock sleeve D16Z6 block & crank (block is step decked .0065)
75mm Vitara pistons, Custom length FJT I-beam rods
Custom 4 layer OEM HG (needed to achieve .0325 P2H clearance)
King bearings
AdvancedStreetPerformance (ASP) Ported D16Y8 head, stock valves (175cfm stock, 225+cfm now!)
3 angle VJ
Supertech valvesprings & retainers
Ported & shimmed oil pump
Zex 59500 cam for now (custom Bisimoto cam on the way)
Golden Eagle IM (newer redesigned version)
Thermal IM gasket
68mm Omni Power TB
Drivetrain:
D16Y8 tranny w/ ZC 1.346 3rd & VX 1.066 3rd as 4th.
OBX LSD
Stock axles
Action 2MD clutch
Competition Clutch flywheel
Hasport billet mounts, 94A durometer (hardest available)
Turbo setup:
Precision SC6262SP .82 a/r
SpeedFactory topmount manifold
SpeedFactory 2qt. catchcan setup
Tial 44mm WG
Tial Q BOV
Precision 600hp core intercooler
3" dp and exhaust
Fueling, etc.
Hondata S300
SpeedFactory 4 bar MAP
Stock ignition for now
Precision 1000's
Walbro 255HP
Upgraded wiring/relay
We just got it up and running in basic NA form, all seems good. 19-20in/vac, idles perfectly. We performed the break-in and Dyno tuned it in NA form just for kicks, now it's time to build the turbo setup!
Here's a crappy phone pic of how she looks right now, things will be cleaned up and modified when we turbo it. I'll post the NA dyno charts tomorrow.

Glad to see it running, looks like you finally got some time to work on it. I really hope it stays together long enough to break some more records!
BTW, it looks really lame NA.

Yes, it does look really lame!
I just figured I should put some pics in the post, maybe I should've just waited until it was finished!

As for the late night pit action, yeah, I hope not. It made for a memorable event though, and I'm very thankful for all the help/support from you guys down there.
So here's the NA results. 126whp/95tq.
We just ran it with a 3" short ram, stock exhaust manifold & stock cat mated to my 3" exhaust.
I was surprised at the output, I was only expecting 100-110whp.
Here it is overlaid with another NA vitara build I tuned for comparison.
The dotted line above was a standard rod (lower c/r) 75mm D16Z6 Vitara build that had all stock port head, cam, IM & TB, 3" short ram, stock exhuast manifold, high flow 300 cell metal core cat, and a Greddy SP exhaust. 112whp/100tq.
Although this will all change somewhat when forced induction is introduced, it's still interesting and educational to see this comparision.
I'm happy to see that this motor is showing it's high rpm superiority at 6000+rpm as that is where it will be run. Textbook example of how a large port, big cam, and large plenum/short runner IM compares to the stock parts that are designed for lowend/midrange. Power peaked at 7600rpm vs 6400rpm.
For reference, a 100% bone stock D16Z6 only makes 95whp/88tq on our dyno! All these tests were performed in 4th gear with a stock Z6 tranny.

More good news, 'Bisi has decided to help out and be a part of this build.
Thanks to Bisimoto Engineering for stepping up and providing us with a custom cam for this build!
Also a big thanks to our friends over at AdvancedStreetPerformance for the headwork!

Re: SpeedFactory '09 Vitara D16 build
We are just going to run this in my street EG again for now, same chassis as last year.
But we have another integra race chassis we are working on that this will be going into when it's done. It will be under 2000lbs w/driver, 1-piece frontend, fiberglass, lexan, wheelie bar, etc. I can't wait to put it in that chassis, it's going to FLY.
