Default Something different. Turbo LT1 swapped S10

Not sure if this is the right forum so if it is mods can move it. thought some people would be interested to see this.

Its my friends 95 S10 thats hes been working on since high school (4+ years) he swapped an LT1 out of a 97 Z28 with an auto about 2 years ago. he did all the work himself and it was pretty quick did a 13.9@100 I/H/E in a heavy truck. this weekend we decided to throw a turbo kit on it to see what it would do. took us in the range of 25 hours to complete it. he plans to run 7 psi and tuning will be done on LT1 edit. he needs to upgrade his rear end because its going to launch axles if he puts too much power to it so therw wont be any sweet ripper vids for a few weeks. enjoy.

that's freakin awesome! I'm uncomfortable with remote mount turbos being under the vehicle, but in the truck bed is perfect. It looks so funny there, I love it.

Nice truck. They're honestly not that heavy for a truck though. I think my 00' S10 V6 is around 3200 lbs.

yes 4.3. he made the mounts himself out of SBC mounts. stock shaft. hes ASE and GM certified, probably hard for someone who doesnt know everything about GM. stock 10 bolt which is why he cant drive it hard right now.

I love the remote mount setup. Nice work putting it in the bed like that. At least that way the turbo won't be exposed to the elements like it would if it were under the bed like the STS setups.

that's a cool idea with the turbo in the bed. the bed in my s10 is already hacked due to the fuel cell... hmmmm... you're a bad influence! I've got no EFI in mine tho so management would be an issue unless I did a blow-thru carb setup.

is the turbo bolted to a brace or a mount of some sort? how's the oil return done? long gravity feed?

3200 lbs for an 00? my 82 is only 2200 lbs.

sweet truck!!

yeah the turbo/flange has a mount we made it sits on top of it so the exhaust doesnt support it at all. its solid mounted to the bed. the oil return is run to a tilton differential pump under the bed. its the same pump nascar uses to pump the diff. fluid to a cooler for the rear end. it returns it to the valve cover.

Yup. My 94 S10 was 31xx. They're significantly lighter than the F-bodies that engine comes out of

Eh, my buddy's LS1 Camaro weighs about 3400. Either way, it's still more fun to have less weight over the back tires.

justa little update, took the truck to the track this weekend. got the rear end all situated and it has some 245/40/18 BFG DR's. couldnt get any traction and there was some shifting issues, tranny doesnt shift fast enough and it pegs the limiter a couple times before it shifted.

best run was a 12.7@112 with a 2.195 60'. 7psi of boost and was shifting into OD because it doesnt have enough gear. it isnt tuned yet just runniing off the maf and 112 oct.

My good friend did the same swap. It's a lot of work!

it was a allmotor "400hp" engine with very lumpy cams lol.. the whole truck twitched as it idled.

You could make a lot of jaws drop around town with that truck. mid/high 12 is awesome for a truck.
