Some numbers from my Turbo LS/Vtec and troubleshooting.
I recently built a LS/VTEC turbo and when we finished the car was running fine and there were no apparent problems but after 1000kms the car began to smoke like a train at no particular RPM whether accelerating or not. Was running the turbo feed line off a T in the cylinder head oil feed. I put a oil restrictor between the feed line and he turbo running it at approx 25psi WOT and 10psi at idle, Problem solved no more smoke. Then a few hundred KMS after that I notice that I was getting detonation when I loaded the engine in 4rth an 5th gear. I retarded the timing and still no better. This was a dyno tuned car so I knew something weird was on the go. It turned out that there was air in my cooling lines. Go the air out and voila no detonation. The car is 235whp and 190ft/lb of torque. I have been driving it like this now for about 500km and there are no more problems yet.
