Default sohc ZC - stock crank/cylinder boost limit?

Ok.. here's the setup...
Got a jdm zc block with a y8 head. Stock valvetrain.
Eagle rods weisco pistons and a block guard. So I guess my question is what's the peak Ho safe to run on the stock sleeve and crank

You will have better luck asking this in the forced induction forum instead of the EF forum

SOHC non Vtec ZC block or Vtec block??? There are both and the Vtec blocks are a bit more stout. 250-280whp with ARP head studs on a good tune on the stock bottom end. The SOHC ZC motors are basically D series with a higher output, normally from increased compression.

The stock bottom end isn't what he has.
He's not even asking that.

He wants to know what the stock sleeves and crank can handle.

Rule of thumb on the sleeves is 450hp.
Never heard of anyone using any aftermarket crank.
Some do the bearings a little looser for boost but not entirely necessary.

Take the block guard out and throw it in the trash.
This has been covered MANY times and can actually cause issues.

LOL missed the pistons and rods. 400-450 without sleeving the block. Crank will handle anything you can throw at it as long as the bottom end is balanced

So the guard is a waste of money? Always heard they help but I've never pushed enough power to worry about the sleeves. What can they cause to go wrong?

And I'm not sure if its a vtec or non vtec zc. It has the oil jet so i assume non vtec but when I got it there was a different head (not a zc) or Atleast I don't think it is.

Ok. No guard lol.. what's the next weak point after pistons and rods? Sleeves or valve train? I can't afford to sleeve my block and if I did it wouldn't be a d series lol. Just want a good 300-400 Hp on this motor while I work on my b series crx

The sleeves will be the next weak link. 300-400whp with a properly built bottom end, good tune on stock sleeves is possible.

Yep. Like I said 300-400whp on stock sleeves if it is tuned well, Also depends on what fuel you will be running. If you have 93 at the pumps go with that or E85 if you have it in your area. E85 will require larger injectors though.

Keep the oem crank, at most get it micropolished. Ditch the block guard too. If you're really worried about your sleeves shifting then you should have gotten the block sleeved.

The stock sleeves can handle around 400hp.
