Default SOHC turbo. T3/T4 Vs t25/t28?

Im turboing my single cam and am not surewhich turbo to use. I heard problems of lag with a t3 style in single cams so i was going to go smaller to a t25 but dont have three hundred bucks to cough up for a new turbo. Mine is a little old but still useful but im missing the inlet and outlet for it, which would cost me about a hundred bucks to buy. If im spending around a hundred bucks already i was considering coughing up a little more for a t3/t4 seeing as how its easier for me to get parts. Any suggestions?

gt28r, Ball bearing is the way to go. The 1.6 motor has a long spool on a t3-t4. The gt28r is a quick spool and will support hp goals up to 400 on an sohc.

I think of people like you when I read any Subie or Evo forum. If it can't flow well below 12psi, the turbo is junk, right? The base WRX's can hit nearly 300whp with their 13T's, which are smaller than a 60-trim T3 - all with a motor that has the V.E. of a sohc head.

Better to get an oversized turbo for that tiny, peaky powerband than actually push a turbo into it's peak efficiency island, right? Whats worse, an 'ebayer', or a tool without a clue?
