Default SOHC turbo build for 200 HP

Im starting to gather parts for a small turbo build. My goal is around 200 HP. The motor will be a z6 head and IM on a y7 block. Possibly b series throttle body. The block may get new bearings and rings depending on what condition I get it in. Head is stock but new oem parts. Car will be my daily driver and maybe some autocross.

The turbo setup will be as follows
Go Autoworks cast manifold
Garret T25 turbo from an older Saab. (yes I know it's small and will not have top end) it was free and I already have it.
Side mount IC probably from a VW
Custom IC pipping
DSM injectors
Custom down pipe
Go Autoworks oil lines
Demon 2 w/neptune

Should this setup be able to reach my goal?

After playing with this I plan on building a d16 bottom end with pistons and rods. Suggestions are welcome on rods and pistons. I would like to stay around the stock compression ratio.

Power sounds about right for stock, and better to have a turbo of that size rather than too big of one for only 200hp. Do you already have the inter cooler piping? If it truly is custom and I'm guessing not made yet, I'd recommend just going front mount. I'm sure you could find a cheap front mount to work.

Keep in mind the injectors- DSM injectors are usually peak and hold versus the Honda saturated injectors, so you'd need to wire in a resistor box.

If you are serious about building a second D series, I'd raise the compression. Stock Z6 is 9.2:1 and even around 10:1 you'd have a car that is fun to drive even out of boost.

nope no piping yet. This is just my plan so far. I may go front mount. I was looking at side mount because I can get one for $21 from the junkyard. Plus I was trying to stay stealthy. Yeah I do know about the resistor box for the DSM. That's kinda up in the air too. I found some RC's for $200.

What rods and pistons would you go with for that C/R?

I want to stay cheap with this first build because I will be learning how to tune so if I break something it won't be a big deal. In the mean time I can patiently build the second block for more HP when I know what I'm doing.

I had a del sol with a side mount it was prolly arround 200hp I never had it dynoed. It also ran a T25 spooled super fast with the small turbo and small intercooler

If your trying to learn to tune you will be better off with the low CR, less risky or even better start tunning before you put the turbo on to get more familiar.

I have some FIC 525cc, which is a superior injector for the same price as the RC's

Well the first motor I would be learning on would be stock compression. And before I even put the turbo parts together Im going to get demon2/neptune. Don't know how much tuning I can do with the stock motor.

Sounds like a decent budget setup. Another option for EMS would be Crome/ Crome Gold as its cheaper than Neptune and would suffice for your needs/ goals.

I keep going back and forth between using demon or ostrich with hulog. demon w/neptune is $400 plus like $200 for wideband. I can get ostrich, hulog, and wideband for $370 + software.

Crome has awful customer support . john cui seems to be m.i.a. I am all for budget set ups but If given the choice would do Neptune any day over crome gold. Crome free and a $50 chip burner is another story if you are strapped for cash. I was faced in similar predicament for EMS but i ended up going with a speeduino Standalone ecu and its the greats $140 I ever spent

another issue is that there is no where around here with a dyno and a good tuner. My plan was to learn how to do it myself.

ok that's nifty. Never heard of that before. How hard was that to install and setup?
