Default SOHC JG turbo kits. . .

Dont know if this topic has been covered before but I just saw it in my HCI magazine (the ricer in me bought it). It looks like it comes with (relatively small) turbo thats internally wastegated, intercooler, type S bov, piping, air filter, and Victor X. Any thoughts or oppinions?

I seen it on Hot Rod TV today.

Hopefully it's cheap.

Being JG I'd assume their own version of the FMU. Cheap doesn't mean it's worth it.

Wow better than I thought it would be. Who'd they pay? I don't see any fuel management. Sounds like the greddy kit except for the intake manifold and the little extras that make it 'special'. Unless...
What's that little red box for? It looks like a MSD box if I'm not mistaken. Funny I missed this when I was there. That place is just too big.

Hehe Edelbrock is a little behind the curve in the import market...I think if they were smart they would have released s B series kit first (assuming they don't have them coming out at the same time) since they'd probably sell more of those.

Oh well, kits are still kits, and kits are still for sissies

Apexi did the same thing for their turbo kits. I'm not complaining

well then slap me silly and call my sissy

btw, isn't it going to be a problem with the return line going straight into the oil pan like that?

interesting. *shrug* for the right price and add a real fuel management solution, they could be big sellers.

edlebrock seems to have a good rap in the domestic/american classic market, What they have made for the import market looks good so far with what i have seen, i hope the turbo kit is a sucess, it looks good

THAT's the intake manifold they're making for d-series?!?! It looks tiny compared to the B-series versions... Art do you have better pics of the intake manifold?

>>btw, isn't it going to be a problem with the return line going straight into the oil pan like that?<<

Sissy. (slap) Just kidding! If I'd had the money, I'd have taken the "sissy" route too. Woulda saved a lot of blood, sweat, and tears...

Looks like they didn't want to cut that expensive steel braided line or something. Still, maybe it's the camera angle, but the turbo does look a bit low for the oil drain to function very efficiently.

I've got the same problem because I used a Civic STD manifold for my diy kit. Puts the turbo too low and it doesn't drain very well IMO.

With over a 60% increase in power, this complete and simple to install Turbocharger Kit gives 1996-00 Honda Civic SOHC VTec D16Y8 owners an option to costly non-emissions legal engine swaps. The Garrett T28 ball bearing Turbocharger comes pre-assembled as one unit with a Ni-resist cast exhaust manifold, a cast iron exhaust elbow, and inlet oil and water lines for the simplest possible installation. The system includes a high-performance Performer X intake manifold with four extra injectors and a separate electronic controller to add fuel under boosted conditions. Also includes an oversized Spearco intercooler and Tial blow off valve. The Edelbrock exhaust manifold and elbow are designed for maximum flow at high velocity for quicker turbo spool-up. We’ve included a windshield pillar mounted boost gauge and pre-assembled Russell oil, water and fuel lines to make this one of the most complete kits on the market. Available early Spring ’03. Emissions-legal status pending.

I think it will be expensive. And isn't that turbo small? And where is the JG kit?
