Block guards do cause hotspots inside your motor whgich will cuse overheating. I have one and let me gess your car will run at normal temp and than rise supratically and than will drop back down ?

What brand block gaurd and how hot are you getting? With me golden eagle block gaurd i think the hottest I ever got today was 212 on a 91+ degree day.On Normal 80-85 degree days i stay around 196 degrees.

Majority of cylinder-destroying force is exerted on the middle of the cylinders, not the top - so I vote them pointless as well! I'd take it out...

EDIT: What about block-posting...that may be a safer bet!
