Default smoke on start up gone... was it because I installed cat? or because I removed the turbo?

I used to make a nice blue smoke cloud on startup, i figured it was my motor and removed the turbo to get the motor to make it a couple more months. When i removed the turbo and I installed my stock cat/ exhaust, I lost that nice big start up cloud. Now my motor still smokes at high rpm like before, but could some of the could the smoke came from turbo or is my cat hiding some of the smoke?

It could be your turbo seal, is there any sign of leakage around the seal? I dont think that the cat restricts smoke, since your seeing it at high rpms. Have you checked the compression? Also a leakdown test can almost pinpoint your problem if there is one
