to sleeve or not to sleeve
like it says guys, i have a b18a1 that i'm building, bottom end, and wanted to know what the take was on sleeving my block, since it is going to be a winter project i don't see why i wouldn't, i'm planning on around 350 daily and maybe turn it up a bit for the track. i want to do this right and not have to really worry about bottom end strength. if you think sleeving is the way, what brand? any opinions would be awesome. thanks

Then again, these people don't mind tearing their car apart when/if they crack a sleeve. LOL.
Just go head and sleeve it.
(btw, i'll be one of those people hes talking about...lol.)

high hp and stock sleeves gives you very little room for error or anything else to happen. i think you can get a golden eagle sleeved block for under 1000 bucks. definately worth it imo. plus you can also run a larger bore, the boost and throttle response from 81mm to 84mm was very nice
my block is sleeved and im only making high 300s low 400s, but at least once or twice a year ill have something happen that would have toasted stock sleeves...

Iron. The plastic sleeves seem to crack over time.
Any reputable sleeve company is good. I prefer Benson. Benson, Golden Eagle, Justice, AEBS, etc. are all good overall.

Re: (HybridKOOP)
i wish i sleeved when i built the motor.. now when i decide to do it, maybe next winter or so, everything has to come apart agaaain, not including the new parts i have to buy ;[
i've made over 400whp daily for the past 2 years. With many, many passes at the track. However, tegman cracked a sleeve at less power, in a week. Which doesn't seem to happen often, but unfortunately it can. I dunno, I was confident in the condition of my motor, and jeff tuning my car, and I turned out fine, so its up to u.. but if u have the cash, sleeve it

You stole my avatar!
To the thread starter. For 350-450whp i wouldn't sleeve it if you don't have the money to do it. Spend that money else where.
