single cam turbo.. new times.. good and bad news... :P
so today is import drags in spokane.. i was doing a 13.81@100 with 8lbs street trim.. my idea was to run 12lbs, different tires(happened to be worse than the other time), no rear bumper, no front/rear seats, straigh dp... think about this guys.. i'm running hx rims with stock firestone tires.. i pull up to the line.. first run.. i take off first and im spinning the tires.. cant get traction so i'm kinda pumping the gas to maybe get traction.. same thing thrgouh second.. kinda through 3rd and i finally catch.. i finish the track and i pull up to get my slip... this is what came out..
reaction-.584
60ft-2.244
1/8th-8.784
mph-87.42
1/4-13.359
mph-106.38
second run comes up.. the car has blowby already by the way.. no biggey.. i have an extra motor in the garage.. died once.. idled funny.. i didn't care.. so anyways.. pulled up to the line... great lauch.. great 1/8th.. a tad bit after the 1/8th, the car bogs to hell and blah... heres what the slip reads...
reaction-.4something
60ft-2.181
1/8th-8.712
mph-85.73
1/4-13.54
mph-92.33
so as you can see.. that run was a 12 second run.. i passed the 1/8th about 75 ft or so already going 100mph.. then coasted cuz the car wouldn't pick up anymore.. 92 mph.. oh wells.. turbo is still fine.. swapping things over today.. hehe... over to a vx swap.. my back-up.. i'm going to put my z6 im, gsr tb, z6 tranny, act clutch, and turbo kit over into the vx motor and run like 7lbs or something.. thanks for reading this long stupid post .. i will have a video of both runs soon.. thanks..

Nice times what does your car weigh with you in it? 12psi what were you using for tuning?.

the car is a dx coupe.. kbb says it weights like 23something.. so i'm guessing i was probaly at about 2350 or so with me in it.. i have dsm 450cc injectors and an SMC+ for tuning.. set at... 1-4k:-39% 5-6:-34%7-8:-33%..

Well I have said it a few times to you already if you dyno tune the motor you are much less likely to blow it. I guess its not that inspiring to people when you do a couple of runs and pop your motor.

So that would have been a 12 second pass on street tires on 12psi? In a descent wheighted coupe, not too bad at all. Congradulations on the 13s and street tires. That's not something to be ashamed of, for the single cam. I'm hoping to have a 12 second daily driver with my setup. On street tires, you give me hope that traction won't be TOO bad. 11's would be a number I'd like to put up on 20psi in my hatch but who knows. What size turbo are you running? Just wondering, congradulations once again!

thanks guys.. this is a 18g kit off the gsr.. just a tubular mani.. the motor starting going out after, (i say after again) after i accidently ran 2 16psi runs.... oops... haha.. it had a lil blowby after those runs(street test).. it's okay though.. i'm picking up a y8 soon.. this is just a backup motor.. and yes.. this would have been a 12 second run.. the second one would have.. i had traction and a better 1/8th.. as you can see it died about when i hit the 1/8th..

man that is a good run
Your mph is high and for sure you should be able to run 12s.
I am currently running a SOHC d16y8 motor with a t28 turbo set-up and is fully tuned with the AEM EMS and that car puts down 211 whp and 171 tq at the wheels @ 9psi on stock motor.
At the track I also had a hard time getting traction even with the drag radials.
My 60' was 2.39 and I ran a 13.4 @ 103 mph.
I have raced many 12sec cars here and have pulled them, so I know I can get a good 12sec pass if I can get traction.
Oh and this set up is in a 96 civic HB with full interior and AC. The car weighed in at 2600 and 2730 with me in it.
good luck with the y8
If you know anyone that is looking for a turbo kit I am seeling my set-up so I can put in the GSR motor

by the way hawjdude, I'm a Chang that USED to live in Spokane. I don't think there's any more Chang's there.
