Shop list for 300whp setup, what do i need?
Last year i bought a used turbosetup from a member here for my turbo plans in the future. I bought a Holset he351cw turbo with piping intercooler etc. The plan was running close to 450whp with this turbo.
Since money is a bit of an issue this year i would like to go ahead and install the turbokit and try and run it on my stock engine first and try to get close to 300whp. Now i don't have any turbo experience so i'm wondering what i need to buy to make this work properly.
My list of things i've already got is this:
Car is a Honda CR-X from 1990 with a B16A1 engine and OBD0 ecu
Turbo = Holset he351cw
Exhaust manifold = Inline pro cast manifold
Intercooler = big XS power core
Wastegate = 38mm ebay WG with 7psi spring
Bov = greddy type RS BOV
Downpipe = 3" v-band downpipe
Piping = 2.5" aluminum piping
Fuel pump = Walbro 255lph
Fuel Regulator and fuel rail = AEM
Intake manifold = Victor-X with 70mm TB
Engine mounts = Innovative billet kit with 75A shore inserts
Lambda = widebandcommander kit from dynojet
Transmission = Y2 with quaife LSD
Exhaust = Megan Racing catback system 2,25" with japstyle muffler
Clutch = Toda Metal Clutch Kit (3-puk disc)
Tuningsoftware = Ostrich 2.0 with BRE (probably)
Uprated Map Sensor = gonna run low boost first max 10psi so stock will do for now
What are the additional must have parts to safely run a low boost setup with this turbo?
List of things i still need according to u guys
Injectors = i'm thinking of RC 750cc injectors they will also be big enough when i turn the boost up in the future.
exhaust = upgrade to 3" freeflow system
Wastgate = maybe get a well know brand to be safe
Headstuds
1 step colder plugs
Toyo R888 semislicks

Don't get an ebay wastegate, and you don't need a fuel rail or regulator, stock will be just fine. Also get a 3" exhaust, it will help make the power.

iv'e already got the parts i listed above, is an ebay wastgate always a bad thing?
As for tuning software i have a standalone system from another car i would like to use but it's not well known on Honda's, it should work great and probably even with the obd0 components.
3" exhaust i forgot to mention but that's something i'll need to tnx

One thing I don't see mentioned or on your list is a great set of tires. Without them you're not going to get that power to the ground. Keep us posted!

Agreed, MAP will most likely be needed. I suggest the Hondata map sensor. It's factory replacement. Just swap them out. For tuning I don't know if you can chip obd0? I would get a jumper harness from obd0 to obd1 and use a hondata s300 system.

Hondata has my preference if the Adaptronic E420C system would be to hard to get it right. http://adaptronic.com.au/products/e420c.html
But i hope i can work with the adaptronic since i already have that one laying around.
The AEM is even better but out off my price range, as i told money is a bit of an issue this year
@tuhboek: tnx for that link i saw it once before but didn't remember where it was.
That list on evans-tuning brings me up to another point.
Do i need ARP studs?
Do i need a traction bar setup?

How about a thicker headgasket to lower the compression ratio? Or are people pushing 300whp on a stock block with a stock headgasket on pumpgas?

that clutch is going to be super harsh street driving this car, i would go with a 4 or 6 puck sprung hub setup since you will be driving it a lot. Definately something to think about

I already had this clutch setup in my suzuki swift with the vtec engine, it wasn't to bad really. Makes me wonder how much whp this clutch setup will take?

Re: Shop list for 300whp setup, what do i need?
I'm not making quite 300whp, but I am using a thicker headgasket on a completely stock motor. This is not necessary and a lot of people would just use the stock headgasket, but it can't hurt getting a thicker one (although I think it will slightly throw off your timing if you don't have adjustable cam gears). And yeah, headstuds are not NECESSARY, but if you can get them, it would be beneficial.

get a set of headstuds, its $90 for a set of golden eagles and you wont lift the head. also i would just go with a set of 1000cc injectors. its the same price as 750's.

bought me a chipped p28 ecu, ostrich 2.0 and hulog combo i will probably use it on obd0 first and then later on i can buy a conversion harness and use the p28 ecu
