Default Sh*t 1/4 Mile Times - Any Help Appreciated...

Hi Guys... I went to the track yesterday and got some real crap times...

The best I got was...

reaction - 1.024
60 ft - 2.469
330 ft - 6.588
1/8 ET - 9.807
MPH - 78.46
3/16 ET - 12.449
1/4 ET - 14.831
MPH - 98.46

I thought this was rubbish. My Set up;

Del Sol B16A2, Max Rev Mani, 2.5" Down pipe, T3/TO4e 57 trim 48 ar, Standard (2.25") Zorst, 425cc injectors, VAFC. I'm putting down about 215 WHP @ around 8.5psi with 192 TQ.... Stock Tyres

I know I need to practice more with the launches but I was thinking any help in the setup would be appreciated...

TIA.

Any FWD FI setup is going to have traction problems. Your 60ft time can be worked on/solved with some better tires. Then don't know how good of a driver you are but with that MPH you should be doing mid-high 13's soon enough

Good luck

hmm...work on launches-- im sure its hard to launch a FI fwd car, but just speakin from experience my n/a setup was running a 2.3 60ft, and a 14.701@95mph... I really don't know how to help, but im interested in seing what others will say to help you out. GOOD LUCK....my best advice (and probobly everyone elses) will be just keep practicing, get as many runs in as you can.

ps: my friend just weighed his del sol dohc vtec w/ him in it, and it was a hair under 3000.

with 215 hp you should be 14 flat or into 13's. you need to work on your driving/launce technique.

Hey Thanx for the info guys...

I was launching at 4k revs - 4.5k revs just so as I wouldn't lose too much traction. I get full boost at around 4.5k - This used to be a lot lower but since I turned the boost up a little it is definately higher...

Are you spinning through second? Try shifting SLOWLY to second, and let the turbo spool back up again once it's in second. This will not shock the tires, and keep the front end planted. You might lose a MPH or 2, but the traction should pull the car through the traps .2-.4 seconds faster.

I went 13.8 @102 with 232 HP at the wheels, 180 torque, on POS 185/65/14 all season tires off a 96 Civic LX! I'm sure you'll see some better times if/when you just practice!

Good Luck!

Not trying to flame but is that dyno hp or guessing? looks like too much tourqe from a B16A w/ only 8.5 lbs boost, anywho, you're 60' isn't that great, get some stickier tire, every .1 you can shave off your 60' you'll just about shave .2 off your 1/4 mile et.

I too was spinning on 1st & 2nd, tried dumping around 2.5K, 3K & 3.5K on street tires.

Newly installed MaxRev kit onto a B18B hatch, running stock 6.5-Psi.

I ran: 14.41 "untuned" @ 99mph & 2.27 60-Foot (r/t was, uh, duh 1.306 was sick as a dog "my excuse" )

But ....
