Default Scratches inside the compressor inlet on my GT35R...

The scratches go all the way around the inside of the shroud.
is this normal? Or should I try and exchange it.
It's the "twinscroll" gt3582r from Full-Race.
Which also looks nothing like what is pictured on their website.
Not only is the shroud different, but so is the compressor housing all together.

*edit*
also, it is brand new from fullrace.
one other thing that had me concerned in the compressor wheel doesnt spin very freely. when i spin it with my finger it comes to a stop within a second or 2 and makes me think there is something wrong with it since the ones i've seen on youtube and whatnot, people can blow into and it will spin for over 10 seconds.

If it has not had oil in it yet its going to be a little stiff to spin, run it for a while and then try it, I bet it spins like you mentioned.

My old Precision BB 67ho was the same way when it was new and then I ran it and it spun for almost a minute after I turned the car off.

My new Garrett BB 67ho does not spin the same way my Precision did, its still a little stiff after a couple of passes and 10 miles of street driving, but it also has a heavy chrome bullet nut on the compressor wheel.

Cant help you on that compressor cover.

thanks for the info 96 gsr-t.

i ordered the twinscroll gt35r from fullrace and it came with that compressor housing, i thought i was going to get the one picture above from their site.

i'd still like to know if anyone else has these scratch marks in their compressor inlet.
it really bothers me to see that.

The compressor housing from the GT35R has changed over the last year or so. I'm surprised they didn't have a 'picture may not represent actual shipped item' on their setups for their T4 Divided housings. It's the same turbo, its not like you're looking at it from inside the car at all times. (kinda reminds me of people who buy 24" rims, and the only way that they are able to see them "spin" is when they're stopped at a light next to a building that gives a mirror reflection. He'll stare all day just to watch them spin, or float, or whatever.. heheh)

I have seen some scratches like that from casting, but to be sure, inspect the blades themselves for any wear.

Why haven't you contacted full-race about this?

I dont see the issue with the housing design albiet not what you saw on the site (which does suck if thats what you want, they should add a disclaimer). Its just 2 different way of achieving the same results though. I would prefer the milled shroud over the drilled housing personally... and the change to that housing is probably as a result of an improvement over the previous (beyond what I gather as the visual cool factor of the drilled style).

The "scratches" are maybe from some clean work by hand on a machining flaw or whatnot maybe in casting... I doubt it is anything to worry, besides maybe the aesthetics of seeing a cosmetic flaw. However as a good measure for piece of mind, contact full race and ask... cant hurt.

thanks for all the replies guys.

the scratches are actually mostly above where the blades are, so i believe twkdCD595 is correct. I think it is just some filing done by hand.

i don't much mind the different design of the shroud or compressor housing all together...i just thought it was odd it was different from what was pictured.
i'm told the milled shroud is actually more efficient at eliminating compressor surge than the drilled shroud.

fullrace actually pm'd me this afternoon after seeing this thread.
so we're figuring out what we're going to do about this.

i'll keep ya'll informed.

more than likely it was cleaned up because some burrs were there etc. i doubt its a problem as well as the cover pictured on the site, isnt that with a anti surge compressor housing? and you received the normal comp cover?
