Scratched #2 cylinder wall
I recently bought a LS block with a fresh hone.
When my builder was building the block, he said there was a small scratch in cylinder #2 . He said it's deep enough that you can feel scratch with his fingernail.
He said the cylinder would still pass a leakdown test, but he also said that the compression would be affected in that cylinder, but he did not know by how much.
Has this every happened to anyone before?
If so, how bad was your compression/leakdown effected?
Do you think it's OK to run?

I crossed my fingers and took his word for it and installed the engine. I have no blow-by and the engine runs great. My car is even turbocharged Good luck and I hope you have the same success as I did.

I just had this dilemma myself. The scratch in my engine is deep and also catches your nail. I spoke with a engine builder and he told me to put the piston half way down in the cylinder and pour some mineral spirits on top of it and fill the rest of the cylinder up. I let it sit for about 45 minutes and it still had the fluid on top. He said if it holds the fluid for close to an hour you are good to go.
