sc61 turbo on a single cam?? will it spool
i was just wondering if my motor would spool this turbo, i have a d16y5 block with cp 9.5.1 compression pistons (stock bore) scat rods and darton sleeve kit. for the head im running a d16z6 stock reving to 7,500 with a victor x edelbrock intake manifold. im currently running the log manifold with the tial 38mm wastegate 2.5inch downpipe and 2.5'' side exit exhaust strate pipes, tuned on hondata s200, the specs on the sc61 is .60 and .63, would my motor spool this turbo and if so around how late in the rpm range. thanks.

what turbo do you have now?
what are your power / drag time goals?
But with a 1.6, 7500rpm rev limit and 2.5" exhaust...your powerband is going to suck....bad

i would switch manifolds and exhaust same time as turbo and then re tune so you dont have to pay for tuning twice in the future when you realize you want a better manifold than a log.
But i say gt30r for your goals. . . .MORE than enough or check out the smaller brog turbos out there. . .

it can work yes, but it WILL be a little on the lazy side. i just did a friends car with an SC34 which only a 57 trim turbo and it was horribly laggy, yeah it did make the power, but it was very lazy!
it had the .63 AR exhuast side. we called and got a .48 for the turbo and it worked judt fine but i didnt like it and the customer was overall not happy with the power delivery. i am notone who like a GOOD powerband of only 1500 rpms or so, not when you could get a 2871R and have tons of power down low as well

This shows you your Y5 head sucks, and that a bigger turbo is going to suck even more.
Mind you this guy made 361 on 18psi with PUMP gas, granted he has a few more parts. The head was unchanged besides springs/retainers/cam. This is what happens when you run a more efficient head/cam, despite 'crappy' 93 octane.

Re: (turbo-sohc 380WHP)
why is everybody so afraid of this turbo? its only a tad bit bigger that a t3/t4 60 trim which ALOT of people use on a sohc. thats basically a 60-1 and an sc61 is a 61-1. i use an sc61 on my built y8 and have had great succes. it spools 15psi by 5.5. 6k and pulls to my 8700 redline.my last dyno was 340whp 262 ft lbs and a flat torque curve. next year im going 30 psi or bust.

Search "SC61 SOHC" in the archives, it will lead to NewtDogs setup, which is what that dyno above is
I too am running a SC61 on my Z6 for 08'

Which SC-61 do you want to get? There are 3 of them to choose from including one with a P trim wheel and an optional S cover. Here's your list:
SC-6152E
SC-6169E
SC-6176E
SC-6152E
SC-6169E
SC-6176E
