sc44 vs sc61... Which is better for me?
Ok well obviously the sc61 will make more power but thats not exactly what im getting at. An yes i did search but got no good answers out of which turbo is better. Basically i have a stoke bore/stroke gsr with a ramhorn manifold,3"downpipe,blox intake manifold,9.1 compression, pte 600hp IC... blah blah blah an so on. An i was trying to decide on which turbo is best for me sc44 or sc61. My goal is 300-330hp on low boost 9-12psi . An 400 or a bit more on highboost whatever that takes. Then ill possibly move up in power after getting used to car. Now im looking for decent tq out of the setup an i dont mind waiting till 5200rpms for fullboost. So either i can have a turbo that will make good numbers on such low boost, but not have good tq. Or i can have a turbo that will take more boost to make the same power as the sc61,an not have as much topend but have good tq. Also for anyone who actually has a sc61 on there stock bore/stroke gsr, what kinda spool times are you looking at? So basically what i am asking is which is better for my goal?
by the way this is the smallest sc61 which is the sc6152e

If you max goal is 400whp then definitely go with the sc44. You will be much happier with the spool times on the street. Some people might argue this but the sc44 will offer superior spool times and will be much more fun, imo. I had the same turbo on a built ls with a built head tuned with aem and it made 373whp on 18psi on pump gas with only 11.8 degrees of advance!!!!! Go with the sc44!

SC61 is overkill. With a small intercooler and charge piping, 2.5" downpipe and a log manifold on a shitty tune, I made 335whp at 15psi. Using your setup and a more competent tuner, 400+whp should be no problem.

If i could hump my sc44 i would, repeatedly, in da butt
but seriously i have a sc44 on my stock block stock head ls/vtec, b18b block and gsr head, hit full boost at around 3900-4000, pulls hard as f*** all the way to 8000rpm i am very happy, i would imagine im around 240-250hp range on 7psi

My cylinder head was fully built with crower springs/retainers and a crap set of OBX CAMS!!! Revved it to 7800 rpm all day long!! It was a blast. And yes, i did have the cams dialed in on the dyno at Tim Switzers shop in Elyria Ohio. Tim you're the man! You can see the dyno vid at switzerperformanceinnovation.com if ya like.
