SC 61 vs GT35R
ok guys im recently int he procees of building my lsvtec/turbo over winter.
Setup
B18b block
ls crank
cp 9:1 pistons
acl rod bearings
arp main studs and head studs and rod bolts
gsr oil pump,water pump
Golden eagle 84mm sleeves
head
itr cams, skunk2 valvetrain, aem cam gears, skunk 2 valves
MY QUESTION IS WHAT TURBO DO YOU GUYS WOULD WORK BETTER FOR ME. Im really wanting to make alot of power 500whp +, but would like to hit the streets once in a while so mainly 50/50 on the street/strip. /Also with which ever turbo what manifold do you guys recommend. I was looking toward the full race topmount.
Leave comments about turbos also, specs thank guys

Re: SC 61 vs GT35R (EM1OwnerSi)
great question... been wondering this myself. Has anyone had both the sc61 and the gt35 on the same setup? I'm wondering if the gt35 is worth the extra$ (is spool/peak power better etc)

Re: SC 61 vs GT35R (markaria)
spool time with the 35r is amazing compared to the sc61. I have always seen the 61 to be quite laggy even though its a relatively small turbo

Re: (kameleon23)
I can let u guys know when my car is done. i previously had an sc6169 on a stock b16. it would hit 20lbs, by 6500 or so. powerband was pretty useless on the street. my new setup will be with the 35r.

if u want power, then obviously break the bank and get the gt35R. i forgot who posted a dyno comparison of the gt35R vs. sc61. but the gt35R made 50hp more than the sc61

Just my opinion, if you want a street car then the sc61 is too big and spools slow because of the lack of BB. But if you want the cheaper turbo, and dont really care about having a track only car then get it. If i was streched for money, id wait and get the GT35R when i could. I was actually thinking about getting a GT35R for street use too, but then i realized id get smoked by a lot of v8's because my spool/response time on that turbo would be too slow so i got the GT3076R .82

With both turbos they would be useless on the street from a Dig even with really good tires. You would be playing the catchup game against rearwheel drive cars. Highway roll ons is a different story though.

All turbos should do that. My 61mm sure does as well as all my others

My GT30R spins for 53 seconds from shutdown with a 850rpm idle. I timed it
