Default Sat nite drive, Bronze Teggy vs Gsxr1000 vs SC vs 700+hp evo vs EVO MR! vids..

After i got my car tuned sat (502 hp on mustang dyno), i went and find the big boys to play with...and damnit! i need more power or need to learn how to stay in boost after shifting or something lol...

will be hooking up the FTS on my hondata soon...so i hope that will help me out...

Anyone else raced any high HP evos? they claw the dam roads like its nothing...

20mph My teg vs EVO MR with GT35r turbo..said he was making only 450...i beg to differ..

40mph Teg vs the evo MR again...did a little better, but fell outta boost when i shifted to 3rd and he left me..

Teg vs SC...he was running a 2jz with single turbo..

Teg vs GSXR1000 haha..this was for fun..dam thing takes off like no other...

Teg vs Yellow Monster 700+ hp Evo....thing walked crazy on me...

Teg vs Yellow Evo and GSXR1000....

Cars are hella fast...kinda sad i cant freaking keep up...haha..

from your dyno on your myspace looks like your spooling forever what size turbo are you running?

also what Boost controller do you have and which wastegate?

using hondata to tune?

Also how much boost are you running and whats the base rate for your wastegate spring?

whats your base rate of the wastegate spring and whats your solenoid activation pressure

how much boost do you want to be running?

i have it geared based...

1st (10psi)
2nd (19 psi)
3rd 4th and 5th (27 psi)

activation begins at 4 psi..

wastegate spring is 8psi

i dun know any other way to make this thing spool faster...better manifold...and ball bearing turbo would spool earlier..but non bb turbos just lag...i do brake boost though..

raise the activation to 8.5 PSI

I would say even higher but your 1st gear is only 10psi so you can't

running 27 psi on a 8 PSI spring is going to cause alot of pre-opening and it's probably taking you forever to get to 27 psi.

I'm not totally sure if you can do this with the AVC-R but I believe you can change that "activation point" by gear as well(double check that I'm not sure aobut that feature) if you can that will help you a lot.

i have a 14 psi spring..but it defeats the purpose of gear based boost...cuz u you will have no traction in 1st...but i am running on m&h street slicks...but i ran and others ran 8 psi springs with 27-30 psi boost just fine..

how will raising the activation point help my boost spool faster? Im still learning these features so im not sure...im running the vaccum source from the turbo nipple...u think running it off the manifold would make any difference??

the 14psi spring wouldn't be useless you just need to run 14 psi in first.

the 8psi is going to work fine, sure but with that weak of a spring running that high of boost your probably not really seeing that 27 psi till way to late in the rev range for it to be used.

The activation point basically when you wastegate is allowed to open. Right now you hit 4 psi and your wastegate is starting to open, this as you know means you have a leak in your exhaust system and gasses that should be used to spool your turbo are being dumped.

so while you are making awesome power at this high *** boost level, your only in that powerband for what seems to be a split second. This is make your peak numbers be impressive but all under the curve your never at 27psi. if you keep it set up the way you have you could probably run like 15-17psi in first, since your wastegate is opening so early and this is slowing the spool of your turbo, you don't really need to too keep the boost that low since it's not an instant hit of power it's more of a smooth raise in power.

Also that 10 - 19 - 27 jumps are killing you especially in these "rolling" start situations, by limiting the boost at 19(I understand the need for traction but here me out here) when you shift instead of being nearly spool you have to respool your turbo a whole 8more psi this combined with your wastegate pre openning is killing your between shifts thats why you get falling behind in every one of those videos after your first shift is made, you have to spool up your turbo again, the evo guys don't

they have to spool maybe a whole 2psi... your spooling 10 or so on top of losing out on all that exhaust gas thats being prematurely dumped by the weak spring and early activation of your wastegate.

Umm....what?

iBrandon: Looking at your dyno plot, either way your car is pretty damn laggy lol. What do you land at from your 3-4 shfits and 4-5's? I have a BB GT35R and I'm 20psi by 5250 on my 2.0L GSR block. With that power that bike should not walk away nearly that hard on you. Those gsxr 1000's are only a bit faster then CBR1000's but that's at the very top end. I'm only at 21 psi and I can hang with most 1000's if not jsut beat. Here is a vid: to show you a comparison. PS, race 1 I shfit to 5th right before the camera, race 2 we let off jsut before the camera in 5th gear

hmmm...

well the dyno pull was made in 4th gear...so the only effect would be the activation option....as for the gear based...i can see what ur saying how its a huge jump in b/w gears....

i might throw my 14 spring back on and set the gear maybe like 14 19 27 27 27 psi???

u think that might work better? also what do u recommend setting the activation point at?

But yes i fall behind everytime i shift....boost drops like crazy..and i can feel the turbo respool for each gear...

i didnt get the exact plots printed out for the psi...but if u look at my dyno plot...the green line starts off with zero and at the peak its 27 psi...so u can maybe get an idea of where it might fall b/w in....any ideas to make this thing spool faster??

but i have a 7.5 flywheel...that rpm drops super fast....maybe like 5000 rpm when i shift so it falls out of vtec and boost...

put that 14 spring in there

Set you activation point to 12PSI if you spike in first gear or you break loose lower it by .5 and repeat till it's a nice strong quick spool but nothing the car can't handle.

then figure out your gear based boost, get it as high as you can to your max boost without breaking the tires loose, you maybe be able to get to like 21-22psi in second.

that should help your spool time.

Doing this will also help with respooling between gears.

It doesn't make a difference what his last gear boost is set at. If he's not using FTS, he's always going to have to build the boost right back from full vacuum in between shifts. Weather he boosts 15 in 3rd, then shifts, goes to FULL vacuum, then 4th egar and spools it to 27. Or boosting 20, shifting going into full vacuum then respooling back to 27 for 4th gear. It's not like that boost lingers around inbetween shifts.. He could bosot 40 in 3rd and 27 in 4th and still have to wait the same.

Your only way around the lag between shifts in any turbo car is full throttle shifting or a true antilag system
