is this safe??? head question
on my 2000 gs-r i have a port and polished head, 3 angle valve job, and shaved 30 thou, itr cams, aem cam gears... would this head be alright for turbo or is the compression to high? should i keep this head or get a civic si head to lower the compression... what psi could i run with the gs-r head with a stock block? and what psi could i run with a civic si head with a stock block?
i am selling the gs-r head or trade for a stock gs-r head and cash or a b16a head and cash... |
Re: is this safe??? head question (tsjag17)
your CR is too high, going with a B16a head will drop your compression into the 9.5:1 area, which is pretty good for boost. I'd swap heads if I were you.

Re: is this safe??? head question (VaporTrail)
ya thats what i thought also i wish i could do turbo on this head cause when vtec hits right now all motor damn does it pull i could only imagine with a turbo but oh well i guess i'll have to get rid of the head or just get acouple head gaskets and put on there... lol

Re: is this safe??? head question (tsjag17)
or drop your compression and do your bottom end with crower/je's..8.5:1 with your head should be fine.

Re: is this safe??? head question (VaporTrail)
ummmm.......i dont think so...the compression on the Si is 10:2:1!!!!!!!
by putting on the b16 head.....how is that gonna lower the compression to 9?? |
Re: is this safe??? head question (SiRkid)
the B16 head has a slightly bigger combustion chamber I think. that would lower the compression.
|
Re: is this safe??? head question (SiRkid)
SiRkid.....that compression on the si is almost all in the pistons.. Putting the bigger combustion area of a Si head with the gsr pistons will yield about 9.6:1 compression.......baaah
