Default SAFC/VAFC "hack" poll

I want to see if there is a relationship between OBD-I, OBD-II, and what problems/no problems people are having.

And we are talking liam setup, SAFC/VAFC, 450s, and the resistor box.

obd1 no problems

The car ran awesome when I had that setup (sohc turbo). Very factorylike, only problem that didnt bug me much was that it was hard to start at times. It was street tuned on a wideband.

Ran perfect on the Hack, then i just switched over to Uberdata and my basemap is fooked. It'll be running back on the hack until i get the darn chip reburned

BTW- i got crappy gas mileage on mine b/c i had it pretty darn rich

OBD1, Driveability is decent, not perfect though....Occasional tip in throttle delay and slight hesitation every now and then...Otherwise very good for a cheap fuel set-up...

Ran the hack on my obd2 d16y8 and dsm's for about half a year before going hondata.

i Voted no problems because they were more annoying than anything.
the bucking annoyed me... but u just learn to drive around it. Hot start problems were more do to the dsms but on a better note with hondata i do not have those problems anymore

I have a b16 CRX that has been using the hack for 7 months. Works great!

No hesitiaton between boost and vac. Runs rich and needs a dyno tune though.

I wonder how this poll would look for any aftermarket mod. Lots of people have problems with suspension, motor swaps, etc. It's all about the person implementing it.

it seemed to me that OBD-II people were having more problems than OBD-I people, so i wanted to take a poll and see what the numbers looked like. However not enough people have answered yet to get a good feel. And second no one seems to be willing to admit they had any problems.... haha.

I ran it on an obdII and I guess it worked, but the bucking and other little things made it really annoying. I dont see why anyone with obdI would even consider the hack since there are options like uberdata that are about half the price of an afc and twice as reliable.....

OBDII with problems. I ran it on my '97 SOHC. The engine would occassionally stall when the clutch disengaged (coming to stoplights and pushing in the clutch pedal usually did the trick). The car would start back up again without a problem but not only was it annoying but potentially dangerous. The setup was dyno tuned with a wideband, too, with a "normal" a/f ratio for a boosted engine.

i run it on 10 psi on d16 obd0....boost transition is so smooth, idle is good it just works awesome I pull about 1 degree per psi in timing using an ecu program...22 degrees advanced timing on 8.5:1 motor

OBDII and it idles pretty much like stock, boost transition is smooth. The only issue is the annoying light throttle buckle. Other than that its awesome. Currently on 10psi, will try to up to 12psi or as much as possible without a cel...

Has anyone compared the SMC (by Zip) to the Vafc Hack?

Just wondering.. Since a lot of people seem to be running rich, would upping the boost be a good solution? Only to a reasonable boost though...

The trick to hot starting your car with the hack is to hold the gas at 1/2 throttle while cranking. Right when it lights up, let off. It will idle normal. You just need to provide it a bit of extra air on hot startups because it dumps too much fuel. Once it starts up and "clears out" it runs fine.
