s2000 turbo, 3mm headgasket or low compression pistons
hi
which one is realibe and safer
i know by putting a thicker head gasket it will lower the compression for higher boost, but does it last.
any s2000 turbo with thicker headgasket how long does your engine last you?
in the other hand the low compression pistons, will that last too....
im looking to boost 20-25 lbs on 91 octane and want to last me for couple of year.

i have research and see a lot people use a 3mm or 2mm headgasket and apr headstud on there stock engine and make massive horse power, but the only thing on my back of my head, how long can it last and how much can the engine take the beating. i have not come across someone till how long there engine last. i know it cheaper buy just buying the headgasket and s2000 engine already come with forge pistons.
my question is what it better for turbo, aftermarket low cr piston or a 3mm headgasket.
rebuilding my engine it have 150k mile and bent couple of the valves
just done rebuild the head with supertech vavle, springs and retainer
my goal to push 550 hp
this what i have so far on my build up on my s2k f20c
precision 6567sp turbo
id1000 injector
bosch 044 inline, 255 intank pump
aem ems, aem boost control
precision 46mm wastegate
pfab top mount turbo manifold
supertech valve train
apr headstud
pending on the pistons and headgasket

Rods and pistons, I do not like anything but OEM headgaskets. The thicker the head gasket the easier it is to break.
Don't know if you'll need 20-25psi to hit your goal with that turbo. I'd say you will probably be able to do it with less.

dont forget new rods, bearings,and balancing
for 500+ you dont want everything to come apart with vibrations. Might even look into an aftermarket harmonic dampener.
You also will prob need a new fuel rail as the OE's are limited to 350-450 ish range.
im sure theres a few other things im forgetting like clutch, plate, suspension and brakes..
going fast isnt cheap!

my friend went to 570hp on his ap1 with stock internals. only thing he changed was he got a stage 2 clutch, new fuel injectors and fuel rail (came with turbo kit) at is only pushing 17lbs of boost. the only thing he needs is a new diff. like the ap2 one. and thats only so he can take off on a dig. but pushing 20-25lbs of boost with push you to around 700+hp which is ridiculous for a daily driven car or street car.

Thicker head gasket is surely easier but opening the quench that much is horrible for power production. Its much better to keep a normal quench with a stock thickness head gasket and lower the piston dome volume.
