S14 200SX Project (56k No go)
Hi guys,
I know its not a Honda but thought we would post up a few pics of a project car we are building here in Australia.
Brief rundown is SR20, Eagle Rods, Aries Pistons, Darton Sleeves, Ported Head, MRD Cams, Microtech ECU, Bosch Motorsport Pump, 1000cc MSD Injectors, Garrett GT 3540 turbo, MRD 24"x12"x4.3" Intercooler, MRD Exhaust and Inlet Manifold, PSR 45mm Wastegate.
It is a Street/Show/Drift car, but hopefully we can talk the owner into converting it to a dedicated drag car
We are working on the cylinder head atm but the car should be together and running in 5-6weeks so we will keep you posted
Let us know what you think so far
Cheers Ben and Dan

It's too clean. I would be afraid to drive that pretty thing.
BTW, that's how you brace a turbo. I'll bet you could take the manifold off and the turbo wouldn't budge.

Hey finally someone posts up a tripod/heim joint turbo support! There have been many requests for pics of this type of support actually implemented. I'm sure this will pacify all the people that didn't understand before.

Re: S14 200SX Project (RacerXI)
Thanks guys, I will post up some outside shots and more progress pics soon.
We have 98 octane pump gas so we are hoping to go about 550-600whp then chuck in the Sunoco and see what happens
We are still working on a fix for the Rockers so we can turn it nice and hard, they seem to be a problem for most SR20's

I don't think the brace is supposed to keep the turbo from moving if you take the manifold off. The vertical heim link supports all the vertical load without causing any restriction in the movement of the turbo other then it moves on a radius with the upper link.
I would think this would help greatly to remove any moment force on the manifold flange and would prevent the manifold nutss from lossening or pulling studs out of the head. VERY NICE

Re: S14 200SX Project (slow poke)
The oil pan isn't on in any of the engine stand pics, but I highly suggest getting a GReddy pan like the above poster recommended. Cheap insurance. Plus it really cuts down the oil temps on these engines. I only hit 205*F oil temps beating on my SR for 20 mins at a time on the track with just a GReddy Aluminum pan(temps measured in the pan), no oil cooler.
That turbo is quite badass though. Makes my T25 have big turbo envy!

Re: S14 200SX Project (Def)
Thanks for the compliments. We are going to run a Greddy oil pan, and yeah we will be running a BOV. The car is an Australian delivered(RHD)200sx, there is a couple of outside pics of it at our website, http://www.mrdperformance.biz, if you look in 'Project Cars' under 'Karls 200sx'.
Our site needs updating but there are some pics there, no Hondas unfortunately yet.
MRD are based in Melbourne, Australia.
The ignition uses Bosch HEC coils and are controlled by a microtech LTX12 ECU.
Cheers

Re: S14 200SX Project (Darton Sleeves)
Is that John from Darton? How have you been? Yeah it is the car we spoke about, we are running a little behind schedule (very long story). The bottom end is all together and we're very happy with the Darton sleeves . Im porting the cylinder head ATM and most of the fab work is done so hopefully in the next month or so it'll fire a shot. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
Cheers

Yes the one and only...Been good, real busy just trying to get all the pro teams ready for the season. Glad to hear the car is finally getting together. Falkens Drift team will be using the big bore sleeves this season too. Keep me informed...
