RX7 TURBO ON CIVIC
my friend just changed the setup on his TT rx7 to a single turbo, he said he will give me one if i want, they have no shaft play and they are hitachi ht12 turbos 51mm turbine n 57mm compressor. do u think this would work good on a custom setup or should i just forget it. how does it compare to a t3/t4?

Your gonna have to make a custom mani for the Turbo....like a maxrev log style with the flange to adapt the turbo.....if that's possible and if you can weld....or if you can find a flange...which i'm sure you can make at any machine shop.......I SAY FORGET IT...too much hassle....sell the turbo on EBAY and use the proceeds for a T3/T04e type o' turbo....or the SC lineup from Precision

I dont' believe you can find a flange or the like so that it will mount. I had an FD and the turbos are pretty small yet very effective. You can push out close to 400whp on the stock twins, but that of course is with a 1.3L rotary.
That's what they look like if anyone is wondering....

well the place that i work at has a machine shop downstairs, and they have made plenty of flanges for me in the past, so thats not a problem. they even made log style manifold for me about 6 months ago for my friend. i just gave them a exhaust mani gasket and the gastket for the ihirb-05 whatever turbo and they made it out of (2) 90 elbows and (2) tees, its came out sweet.
so the mani is not the problem, i just wanna know if one of those turbos will be effective on a b16 or not bother at all

you can find the flange for the Bseries motor for your turbo mani anywhere...but you need to also make flanges for your compressor intake pipe and compressor outlet...or maybe you can get those pieces off of the FD......efficiency wise the wheels look great for a honda low boost setup...how bout cfm?

have you ever seen them up close you cant have just one of them. the turbines are held together by one joint cast piece and they only have one flange for both primary and secondary turbo. unless you were going to somehow run the twins just as they are, its not going to work.

Thus my posted picture, showing both turbos combined.

this was the first turbo i ever used on a honda , h12 , with 12a cold side , and put a 13b turbine on it pretty good turbo , flange-wise for upgrading is pretty annoying... but for first time boosting it was a great turbo from me

Is that A/C compatible?
BTW, even with a 13B motor, running those turbos in true parallel induced some lag (4k rpms, as reported by some FD guys). Imagine it on a 4 banger with less exhaust flow? (Rotaries expell a tremendous amount of exhaust due to it's rotary design, most of their "small" turbos run on average, an .82 A/R exhaust or else it will choke on the top end)
