i was wondering how much power i would be losing going with a restricitve exhaust..say 2.36 inches instead of 3 inches? would it also hurt the engine to have a restrictive exhaust? any reccommendations..i heard with the 3 inch thermal that you have a test pipe or cat with the ends welded together ...is there anything that you can bolt right on to a 3 inch? oh forgot to say i'm going with the fmax kit running up to 10 psi..thanks

All I can say is this. When I first put my turbo on, I was running straight out of the downpipe...a week later, I bolted up a 3" Thermal (no cat, my downpipe flares out to a 3" and hooks directly up to the exhaust.) The car felt exactly the same, no loss in power. Just a hell of a lot quieter. Actually, the car actually felt like it ran better. Maybe it was the placebo effect. I dunno. I don't think anyone makes a kit that will bolt right up to a 3" exhaust.

not sure if i got this correct but you bolted the thermal to the 3 inch downpipe? did you custom flare it out to the 3 inch thermal? what did you do with the o2 sensors? thanks..i heard that the thermal was hella loud though..not really looking for hella loud..just something that makes a nice noise when i gun it..thanks

Yup, my downpipe flares out to a 3" and bolts right up to the thermal. No cat. My downpipe has a bung for the o2 sensor (only 1 o2 sensor, my car is obd1). The thermal is fairly quiet. But at full boost it gets loud. HTH
