Default Rotrex Supercharged K20A ITR swap "EG" stuff

Something a little different from the norm here.
A 92 CX Hatch build w/ an 05' K20A ITR swap done by the owner. This setup w/ a cold air intake, Hybrid-Racing swap header, a Skunk2 Mega Power RR 76mm header-back exhaust, and KPRO made 231whp and 168wtq, on 93 Octane (Dynojet)
It now has the addition of the C38-61 Rotrex head unit from Kraftwerks installed and all of the fab completed. Still on pump, still the same stock motor/clutch, etc. 1000cc in and a new map sensor were added. 11psi, 361whp, 231wtq (same Dynojet). IMO, that makes for a fun package. A pulley change and E85 is on the way for it.

Inlet filter location and push radiator fan is interesting.

Thanks, once it is all together it does layout fairly simple. The charger/bracket/lower part of the bay in the front is jam packed.

The fan could actually be a puller at this point, but would be packed super tight. It came in mounted that way; which was a few hour road trip to get here. The original plan was to do a long intake putting the filter out into the driver side fender well. After looking it over, that would have been impossible with the layout of everything else (ducking, dodging, and dipping w/ a 3" pipe). There's a gaping hole right there for air to get to the area the filter sits in without soaking from the radiator (while still being somewhat symmetrical in location)

Wow thats quick. The gearing works out very well for that powerband, seems to do a decent job putting the power to the ground.

I would have loved to go the supercharged K route on my build, but there are some extra obstacles/costs I wasn't ready to face.

That thing rips 👍🏼

Cracks me up up when I see people saw they want 600whp when they’ve never even ridden in a 300whp civic lol. Under 400whp in a light civic with traction is a hell of a lot a fun!

His combination as a whole does seem to pull and work well together...that makes for a fun street car.

At this point I could probably sit and do a fairly quick heads up pros/cons pound for pound etc. of turbo vs SC on a K swap being that I've done both here (this being the first SC).

I'm curious to see how the powerband of one of the new GTX2860 turbos looks on a 89mm B series. Eventually my car will be the guinea pig for that, going to use one of your RR kits for it

The B route for me was just easier to keep amenities like AC and the like, going K or especially K with a supercharger complicates those things a bit. Forum user B18C5(?) in the 5th gen subforum has a super awesome Comtech Supercharged K20 EG with AC and electric PS.

That car moves! I'd love to have a rotrex, but air conditioning is pretty important for me.

Just noticed thats the stock clutch holding that power- that's pretty wild. I guess cuz mild torque and progressive delivery? Greg, do you know what tires are on that Civic?

That's a lot of motor for that turbo. More TW would probably be more beneficial for the topend. It would still be all in fairly instant.

I think that is the biggest Honda "gripe" with the Rotrex units...you will lose AC

I believe R888s. I'm surprised the stock clutch is still surviving.

TW? Turbine... Width? Turbo Woofers? Taco Waffle.

The idea of a B Rotrex build is also very appealing, but once again it inevitably nerfs AC. If the owner of this K20A uses this car for track duty I'm sure it performs amazing

He does use it for autocross and some drag.

Yep, and so does the JRSC system. I would have loved to explore those further but I have some apprehension about buying systems like that second hand (neither are produced anymore to my knowledge), especially since support for those superchargers are also on their way out, just no more development or sales on that front.

Edit: Oh **** just got off the phone with ATI (Procharger) and they do actually still make and sell those kits... That's incredibly surprising to me.

The ATI Kit is really nice IMO as a supercharged setup. It never really took off back when it was Procharger/Vortec/JRSC options going at the same time. It's the only one of the 3 that's still available.

It is still so pricey... the base kit is $5100.00 and there are another $600.00 in options. I wonder how many they sell ???

My only gripe I can already see about the ATI kit is where you're forced to try and put the air filter/inlet for the supercharger. Very far from ideal for me, I'd be worried about hydro lock, debris from the wheel (no liner), and just clearance behind the bumper. These things could be addressed/dealt with but there's not a lot of room to work with right there, and I think if you had some decent tread up front it would choke that space down even more.

Also impossible to find any good dyno plots of the ATI charger on these cars now thanks to Photobucket taking everything offline. Just not a lot of documentation here.

Well if I knew Rotrex was going to release a newer even more powerful supercharger than the C38-92 I would have gone the supercharged route on my B series motor lol.

This just popped up on my Instagram feed the other day, could only imagine a well setup 600-700hp supercharged B or K series.
