Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
it looks like you got gsr rods.
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (SuperTeg95)
nope, you got b16 rods.

Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
Im not sure but that block looks like a tall deck to me.
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
maybe wrong crank??
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (Gravy)
I dont think the wrong crank would even come in to play, since the rods that he received are already showing being shorter than his stock ones....
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (tthame1)
thats what i thought. but the rod difference is what got me thinking.
isnt the tall deck dart just plain huge? |
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
the rods are the issue, maybe even the pistons, who knows
|
dude whats up witht that block, dide you machine your own block out of aluminum opr something lol
|
Re: (ITSME4G63)
its a dart block. thats what they look like
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
If the black one is a stock B20 rod and yours is significantly shorter it's pretty obvious you didn't get Manley LS/B20 rods, you probably got B16 rods but it seems like there's something funky going on as well. B16 rods would only put the piston a tenth down further in the hole then LS/B20 rods. Measure the deck height of your block, check out your pistons, and your crankshaft as well.

Re: (wantboost)
You have any better pictures of the block?
|
Re: (SlowReaction)
just some numbers out of the months honda tuning.
from the pic it looks like there is way more than 1mm diff. b16a=137mm b18a1,b20b4=137mm b18c=138mm b17=131.9mm h22=143mm h23=141.5mm k20=139mm k24=152mm |

Re: (abnaasefmb)
im goin to killmyself....... all i wanna do is BOOST
|
Re: (abnaasefmb)
So you either have the wrong pistons, wrong crank, or a tall deck block. The rods are right! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif
Time to measure that deck height. |
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
I love Dart Blocks.
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
That is a tall deck Dart block you are playing with. It is around 9/16" taller than the standard block, which is 211.5mm compared to your 226mm block. If you are using stock pistons and rods, you will get that result. I think Eagle makes a set of rods you can use with an ls crank to get your geometry correct.
My question to you is how did you get a tall deck Dart block and not know it? |
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (earl)
Heres a picture for you to compare. Its a block form post earl made not to long ago.
http://members.cox.net/080744/Dart1.JPG https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Also, not sure whats up with the rod deal but if thats really a pr4 rod, then the manley is obviously the wrong one. When you measure rods, I think you measure from center bore to center bore. |
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (earl)
i ordered a standard one and when it arrived i just dropped it off at the machine shop without checking anything, and when the assembly started to take place i came across that speed bump.
anyone wanna trade a tall for a ready to roll standard since im a moron. |

Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
what explains the rod length difference.
|
Re: RODS ? WTF!! (fknfast)
Assuming there *is* a rod difference between the stock B20 rods and those silver rods, someone really fuct up at that place. Whats odd is that there shouldn't be a 14mm difference between a B20 rod and any other b-series rod like that shows (almost an entire wrist pin bushing [19mm] short).
I guess you should make a lot of measurements, stroke/deck/rod/wrist pin height... BTW Earl's buildup was a tall block, yours looks the same. No idea about the rod diff. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1262775 http://members.cox.net/080744/Dart2.JPG |
damn man...lol!!!!
