Rings !!! what do you set the gap 2 ? no right or wrong answer....
Well I know there no right or wrong answer... it seems that most people set the top ring to around 19tho ( total clearance) and the 2nd ring around 16tho (total clearance) for FI and leave the oil rings alone..... some people set rings at the same gap anywhere b/w 15 and 20 tho (total clearance) would love to hear what you guys are sitting gaps at...and reaons why or what you find works....
Also some people go for a larger cap in the top ring, where some go for a larger gap in the 2nd ring. More so this is for CP pistons / JE pistons Specs….
Regards James

In my stock rebuild I just used the stock specs...I'm interested in seeing what people use on aftermarket pistons though. The piston manufacturers spec or stock?

I was told to go with aftermarket specs but I'm still not sure so I'm interested as well.

The two engines I built had JE's. I used exactly what was on the spec sheet, and no issues/problems with either of the engines. I would recommend to stick with what the manufactuer suggests. The numbers are usually determine by the engineers of the rings, who know the precise gapping of those particular rings (since metallurgy is slightly different from different manufactuers).
