Default Ring gap.. how do i determine what mine should be?

I have a set of Wiseco 81.5mm pistons, with the rings that came with them...
b18a block...

anyone had to file there oil ring?? this ring doesn't hold it's shape in the cylinder so not sure about the gap but when i sqeeze in on the piston it looks like it overlap. is this rite?? cp piston...

I have never have to file the oil rings. They're always right to the specs. If yours overlap, you may have gotten a wrong set, which I have seen that happen.

The formula for sizing the top and bottom compression rings is bore size (in inches) x 0.006", and then add 0.004 for the secondary compression ring gap.

according to Wiseco's website the multiplier for your top ring is .005", for your second ring it's .0055" and the gap is .0015 for your oil rings.

With my CPs I went with CP's recommendation, their multiplier is higher than wiseco's.

I usualy do .015 top and .017 to .018 2nd on moderate amount of boost...
