Riddle me this: Heater stops working when floored
D16Y8 w/internals running 17psi.
So when the car is floored for any length of time the heater stops putting out hot air. have purged the system of air by removing rad cap and letting it get to normal operating temp. Car does overheat occasionally but have found that a faulty fan relay was to blame...it has gone thru 3 fan relays. So could that be a bad fan motor?
The part about it losing heat when its floored is concerning. I initally thought it was an air bubble but not sure on that. Looking for ideas.
Thanks

Re: Riddle me this: Heater stops working when floored (DBL)
Stock thermostat for a 98 Civic. Hasn't ever been changed.
The heat is at normal when crusing. Hard to say the exact temp as I dont have any tools to find out, but it is where it was at when everything was working. It only overheats at a stop. As long as there is air over the radiator its fine.
I will have to see what it is at during WOT. AlwaYS watching the road, but I can check.

change the thermo ...it's like $10, look for any tears in the fan wiring back to the relay were it could be grounded out.. i know it would be blowing fues but never know, you can also be right about the fan motor shorting it out , i had a alternator doing the same thing to fuse's ...somthing inside it went bad..... also the rubber seal around the rada cap will go bad cause over heating

the cap has been changed and the t-stat will be next.
The overheating is one thing. The fact that the Heater goes cold when under full accell bothers me. I think there could be air in the system.
