Default Revved LS to 8k+ rpms what did I screw up?

I was shifting at redline from 3rd to 4th and I got a little grind noise and the shifter moved into 2nd. I revved it to about 8k+ rpms. I think a might have bent a valve because at idle I can hear a metallic ticking that seems to be coming from the head. The ticking is noise matches the same tempo as the exhaust does at idle. My vac bounces from 17-19 as the car idles also. My question is, what did I break? Did I bend a valve or spin a rod bearing? Or do I just need to get a valve adjustment. What is this gonna cost in parts/labor? Thanks

check to make sure all your valve adjuster nuts are still on there. I've seen it happen 3 times on LS's that were over revved. one of the valve adjuster nuts simply fell right off and was sitting in the head. Another time it had just backed almost all the way out. This is most likely what happened.

Think that's scarry? Imagine seeing your tach SCREAM to 9.5+K!!! Happend to me not once, not twice.. but 3 damn times on my GS-R (B17A1) from missing a shift! It's a 93 so the shifter busings are pretty well worn and the shifter has gotten somewhat sloppy, so in my quick shifting to the next gear I'd inadvertadly hit a lower gear and have my head all but bounch off the wheel while seeing the tach needle sweep past 9k.. can't recall how many perfectly good pairs of underwear i've ruined because of that damn shifter! It's also an absolulte testament to why I am such a die-hard beliver in Honda engineers, 8 years old, 140k miles and it still survives near 10k rpm blasts lol, meanwhile Toyota Celica GT-S's keep blowing up from mis-shifts!

I took the valve cover off and took a look, all the adjuster nuts are still there and everything looks fine. Im throwing 2 CELs for random misfires in cyl2 and in cyl 4. When I rev the car the turbo doesnt spool half as fast as it used to. Im not sure where to start? Should I try a valve adjustment first?
