Default REVIEW: Action Clutch Dual Diaphram Clutch.

**** NOTE -- THIS THREAD IS OVER A YEAR OLD *****

First of all Thanks to Rocket for hooking me up with a great price and shipping extremely fast. My car was only out of commission for a little over a week.

The clutch is very beefy looking, I would have snapped some pics, but I had no time. I will take some when I pull my motor and put the new one in. I bought the dual diaphram pressure plate and an unsprung 6 puck metal disk. It came with bearings.

My first impression driving with the new clutch was whoaaa, this thing is stiff. But really it isn't bad at all, I was just used to the way soft integra clutch. I was driving a stock 94 civic EX while the integra was broke down, and that clutch is way soft too. It was raining and I couldn't keep from spinning the tires in first gear because I wasn't used to how hard it grabs. Nontheless, there is no chatter or shaking unless you seriously under gas it.

Now that I have had the clutch in for a few days I have gotten used to it and I like it even more. It grabs so well, I know it will be able to handle all the power I am going to throw at it.

Cliffnotes: blew clutch, called rocket, sent money, got action clutch real quick, tricky to get used to at first, love it now. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">

Oh ****!

Thanks Kyle. It's people like Kyle, early adopters of technology, that make alot of progress possilbe. He's one of the big reasons I've got 5 freakin stars.

Yeah, the dual diaphram clutch is some heavy duty **** and feels way different than stock. You have to get use to driving manual transmission again with these but IMO no other clutch compares.

Thanks again Kyle.

How much is this clutch? I might need a new clutch as it seems my ACT is dying on me after only a year.

I'd also want to know at what rpm on first gear the chatter occur?
I used to have ACT extreme/6 pucks, the chatter was pretty bad

ACT has the worst chatter. Actions are relatively real smooth as Kyle can attest.

The clutch has no chatter unless you serriously under gas it. Just like with the stock clutch, if you let the clutch out too fast with out enough gas to complestate the clutch will chatter and the car will shake. After I got used to the engagement of the new clutch chatter/shaking is gone.

We had a turbo GSR with ACT HD six puck and it only lasted 9K. She now has the same clutch as 2K_TEG.

Clutch life is dependant usage. The GSR I mentioned does track time and dyno time.

Since there is enough interest and I am good friends with the owner of Action Clutch I have decided to do another Group Buy.

I was checking out the review on ur clutches and it sounds pretty good. How much for a clutch w/ throwout bearing for a 91 Teg. It has a 94 B18b, but the tranny is still small spline. thanks

From my experience with dual diaphragm pressure plates...i've noticed that the clutch pedal engagement point changes while you drive. Does this happen with this clutch too??

It engages pretty high. You only have to push the pedal in about 1/4 way. As far is that point moving, I haven't noticed it, but I haven't been looking for it either. I will pay attention this afternoon when I go out and give you an update.

Mine is a custom pressure plate, disk combo and Rocket said it would be able to hold at least 500hp. There are several different stages (just like any clutch company has) for varing power levels. IM Rocket, he will be able to better direct you than I could.

The reason why it engages high is because there is a lot of release on Action pressure plates so it doesn't take much pedal movement for full release of the clutch. This ensures that you will not grind you gears when shifting.
