RevHard kit not capable of making over 350hp @ 18psi and turbo still be effcient???
Does anyone know how much power a RevHard kit can make with the turbo still being efficient? I am not forsure what the trim is on the compressor housing, but the compressor housing is either a .60 a/r or .63 a/r. It is probably the same turbo that came with the Revhard kit a few years ago.
A friend of mine has a 95 Integra with the full RevHard kit, built & sleeved b18C block, around 8:5:1 compression pistons, JG cly head, regrind cams, and some kind of aftermarket intake manifold...not the JG manifold. I am not forsure what trim the compressor housing is, but the a/r is either .60 or .63...I cant remember. Its probably whatever turbo RevHard sold with their kits a few years ago.
Anyways, he had a local shop here in Dallas, TX trying to tune his car with Hondata and 1,000cc injectors. They had a few problems at first, but managed to put out 350hp @ 18psi. The guy who was doing the tuning told friend that if he went with a bigger turbo, T3/T4 60-1, that it would make alot more power. The guy doing the tuning said that the turbo that is on the car will not be efficient over 350hp with that amount of boost....18psi
Is this true????
The reason why I am asking this is because I have a feeling that this shop/owner/tuner is trying to screw over my friend because their mistakes. The reason why they stopped the tuning at 350hp @ 18psi was because they took off the filter from the turbo, and the turbo sucked in one of their shop rags . The blades on the compressor wheel are trashed! The owner said that now would be a good time to go with a bigger turbo for more power....WTF!!!???
The owner said that he would sell my friend a entire T3/T4 60-1 at cost, minus the cost for a new compressor wheel.....around $700. The owner also said that he would replace the compressor wheel at no cost to my friend.
The owner of this shop seems REEEAAALLLY shady to me. At first he said that HE would just replace the compressor wheel. After he said that, I started questioning him who is going to do the balancing, and he replied, "oh the place who is going to put on the compressor wheel." I also asked him anything else was damaged besides the compressor wheel, and he said no. I asked him if he has taken the turbo apart, his reply was, "no, I dont have time". Wouldnt you think that if a rag got sucked into the turbo that it would damage more than the compressor wheel?......maybe damage the compressor housing, bearings, shaft, and/or turbine wheel since the rag probably made the compressor wheel come to a complete stop while it was in boost.??????????
I am sorry for this long post, but I have a very strong feeling that this shop is going to do half-assed work on my friend's car just to get it out of there so they will not have to pay for their mistakes. Tony1 was orginally suppose to tune the car, but other stuff came up and Tony couldnt do it that day. I had a very bad feeling when my friend told me the shop who was going to do the tuning. I wish that Tony have been able to tune the car .
Thanks

I would like to keep the shop anonymous until they can set everything straight with my friend, or atleast until we can get my friend's car out of there!!!!

yeah the shop fucked up, i had the same thing happen to me at a shop, well kinda i was getting a compression test done at the shop guy brok my noligy hot wires(150 bucks) and didnt replace them. before having tuning done or any work like that with after market parts ask them about stuff breaking and know what their responsible for. oh and that turbo should be good for a little more than that, **** i have an 18G and it runs efficent up to 350hp at 15psi

Yea, I wouldnt be surprised if the turbo could put out more power that and still be in its efficiency range. I just think that the shop/owner/tuner is trying to get out of this deal without having to pay for their **** up.

Re: RevHard kit not capable of making over 350hp @ 18psi and turbo still be effcient??? (adlert82)
Here is a link to CheapTurbo.com with a B18C running a T3/T4 57trim putting down 366hp @ 10psi. http://store.yahoo.com/cheaptu....html The main difference that I can see in my friend's RevHard kit and the Peakboost kit in the link is that the PeakBoost kit is running a different style header. So 350hp @ 18psi vs. 366 @ 10psi....both B18Cs. The owner/tuner said that a 57trim cannot put out over 350hp because of the turbo's efficiency? I guess that car in the link shouldnt push more than 10psi because it will be blowing out hot air ........yea right

Also refer to this post about the problems with the turbo. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1231773 I would really like to know why that post was locked. "Update: This was confirmed from an unnamed source that the name of the shop has two words....ends in Performance and starts with a V"....That is not true..it is not Velocity.

first, that is alot of boost on pump gas. second, that turbo should make WAYYY more power at 18psi. i have a b16, not even a b18 ... and my 57mm trim turbo made 330 on just 15psi. your friends car should be doing more, esp w/ a head and other mods. get your turbo fixed for free, and go tune somewhere else.
also, im calling BS on th 18G being efficient up to 350 HP at 15psi. you can make 250 at 15psi, but no more. that turbo is incapable of producing mid 300's

dont call BS, call Greddy they'll tell you. 949-588-8300. i have seen a Civic 99' SI with Greddy kit same as mine, put down 337hp on an 18g, with no head work. it had JE pistons, eagle rods, sleved and a nice tune on hondata. not sure of the psi but the hp #'s i know for sure. trust me its possible, i have seen it with my own eyes.

I guess that shop is going to set it right with my friend. He is going to go ahead and order a SC61 turbo. He is only going to be charged around $530 for the turbo. They also lowered the prices on other labor that they did on the car. So everything should be good now.

at least they were good enough to take care of what they screwed up.
sure, when you crank the boost and max out the turbo, run race gas and have a custom dyno tune, which by the way would have to be borderline safe, the motor will push CLOSE to 350. but efficiently? no. i had the same GReddy kit before i decided to go bigger and made 320whp with my setup. sleeves, pistons, etc.
and they guy who said "your a moron" ... good one. really! did you sit there thinking for half an hour b4 you came up w/ that great come back.

my rev hard turbo kit put down 447 whp and 350 torque at Church Automotive. @21 psi. set up was ls vtec 9:1 comp with gsr head. all stock for valvesprings and skunk 2 i/m. Hondata s200. I was happy. so, why did a shop rag near the compressor anyhow?
