Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifolds a
Yeah, so last night we do a little test fitting of the turbo/manifold on some H22A motors we had in the garage, South Florida Performance manifolds w/ external wastegate and a T3/T04e turbo (we bought 2 H22A ones, one for me and one for a friend)......I was worried before about the placement of the turbo and having it hit the front motor mount (I planned to just trim the mount), BUT IT'S WORSE THAN THAT!!! We took OFF the mount, and the compressor housing hits the BLOCK! It's an unacceptably shitty design, and leads me to believe that SFP has never even tried testfitting this manifold on an H22 motor because there is NO WAY this manifold would ever work. Is anyone out there running an SFP H22 manifold that you can send me pics of? I would literally need to cut off half the front motor mount, take out the top right bolt, and cut about an inch to an inch and a half into the block to make the exhaust housing line up with the flange.......
I'm SOOOOOOOO pissed right now, I'm calling SFP on monday and telling them we want our money back.....
Worst thing is, this test fitting was just with a T3/T04e and not the GT3240 I'm gonna be running. It has a larger compressor housing than this one T04s and will have even more clearance issues......
Our B18C1 and D16 SFP manifolds worked great with no problems, but these H22 manifolds don't even come close to fitting......WTF?

what downpipe are you running? if worse came to worse you could run the downpipe on the passengers side...

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
Yeah, I am running the b series compressor housing and it barely fits. Another thing you could try is to put an extra flange between the manifold and the head, which would make the turbo clear the block. You would have to run some slimmer fans though. Other people have been able to fit some e housings by trimming the block or just trimming the motor mount. I think each manifold varies.
This guy from po.com made a new front motor mount as you can see in his album.

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
My revhard manifold fits EXACTLY like that with my t3/t04e, I significantly trimmed the mount and notched the block! I was in the process of making a motor mount to bolt to my a/c bracket when I burnt exhaust valves, and now I am putting my h22 into a civic which doesnt use a front mount so I am fine with it now. But like I said, the revhard is the same way, I just notched the block, needless to say, it did **** me off when I first noticed that it wasn't going to fit. Good luck

I have built 3 custom kits on preludes using the rev hard manifold and while I did have to trim the mount (no big deal) I did not have teo shave the block at all. If you go to our website and look under the gallery at "in the shop" there are some pics of one of the cars. It is a rev had manifold, t3/to4e and I built the downpipe with the wastegate coming off it like an internal wastegate setup only with an external. Everything fits good.

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
Yeah, notching the block is unacceptable to me, especially since the area I'd need to notch the block would include grinding away a bolthole for the motor mount.......looking at the motor there should be no problems making the turbo fit, I think SFP just tried to copy their B series manifold design and adapt it to the H22 without doing any fitting at all. Totally unacceptable for a $450 dollar manifold. And I'm sure as hell not going to run a t04b compressor housing just because that is what will fit
Also, I can't turn the turbo around because the inlet will either be right behind the alternator, or hit it......so I'm straight up f*^k$#......sometimes this whole industry pisses me off with the shitty way they do things.....poorly designed manifolds, hoods that are missing vent grates, radiators that don't come with caps when they say they do, etc......
Damn SFP......after their D and B series manifolds, I had such high hopes

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
What about using a spacer to push the manifold out a bit as I mentioned?

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
If you use a spacer then you wouldn't have enough threads on the studs in the head. You could use longer studs but why rig it up like that when there are plenty of manifolds that will work correctly.

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
looks like those SFP are mig welded...??? anyways.!! RevHard Mfg makes tubular log and 4-1 turbo manifold.. that will clear without having to shave your block..shaving of the mount is needed though..

holeeee ****!!! ok i dont know if anyone realized this, but that manifold is MIG welded!!! ewww i hope they didnt make you pay for that!!
dump that zero and get with a hero
we have some manifolds that you dont need to notch the block OR the mount with..

I'm going to call SFP today and see what they have to say, I'll post back up here with their response......
And FFgeoff, I might be contacting you about those manifolds depending on how things with SFP go......

Yea, keep us updated. I just got my SFP manifold and sending it out to get powder coated....maybe i'll just return it instead. I'm definately going to test fit it first thing tomorrow though...

2000accord5spd, can you please update us as well when you do your test fit? SFP was on my list of possible manifold makers so I want to know if this is just a 1 time thing or if their quality is starting to go south..I heard w while back that they had very high quality manifolds....What happened to them?

WOW, I cannot believe the poor quality of those welds. Something like that i'd expect from myself. What's the deal here?
Hang in there drake, it seems like you keep hitting brick walls!

Would be interested in finding out more regarding price and availability of the revhard manifold for the H22a4... any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated...

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
The way the turbo exhaust housing itself positions the turbo also could be part of the problem. When I changed out my t3\t4 for a new 4 bolt one, I had to shave over an inch more of block material from what was already shaved to get it to fit.

Re: Repost from prelude forum, but want FI guys input as well: South Florida Performance H22 manifol
Ok, my digital camera wasn't working so I ended up having to take pictures the old fashion way so those pics won't be up for a while. However, after doing the test fit tonight, it is prety close to the same as those pics...not as bad though. I could actually fit everything without the turbo touching the block, however, you WOULD have to shave a little of the block and mount to be on the safe side.
I also tried the other way around and have to do some more test fitting once the engine's dropped into the car. I wanted to keep my AC but we'll see what's the best option. Whatever I end up doing, I want to try to avoid a sharp bend in the downpipe. So I'll keep you guys posted but at this point, all I can say is that yes, it comes fairly close to the block but not horrible.
One thing I WANT to mention about SFP is how annoyed I am. They promised me the manifold 3 weeks before I finally got it. On top of that, I repeatedly told them over and over again that I wanted the manifold 'RAW' because I wanted to ceramic coat it. Well, it comes and what do you know, it's painted...(even though it's really easy to take off it's still annoying). PLUS, I told them at least twice that my wastegate is 40mm and what do they put on? 35mm flange... I'm just really annoyed with them and for how sloppy their service is.
