Replacing turbo seals? Questions..
My turbo seals are leaking pretty bad. There's what looks like a fine oil mist coming through the charge pipes (the inside of all the piping even up to the throttle body is thinly coated with oil, the bov is even shooting an oil spray!!!!), and oil in the ic piping. Also it's burning oil like crazy through the exhaust and after a hard run, the engine bay is filled with smoke from oil burning off. If there's no shaft play, can I just replace the seals and be fine? I was thinking the seals were metal..so what really happens when the seal "blows"? Does it melt or warp and that's what causes the oil leaks?
I think what might have caused it is my drain hose was clocked wrong and the oil couldn't drain out properly. Also I might have too much oil going into the turbo, the restrictor is still too big I think. Could oil pressure be forcing oil past the seals? Also didn't have the coolant lines hooked up yet, I'll do that as soon as I replace the seals.
