replaced plugs with one step colder ones...do i need a retune???
i just replaced the plugs on my car for the first time (since owning it) the other day and i noticed the bkre6es-11's were in there, gapped to .39. i put in some bkre7's and gapped them at .30.
is it gonna affect the tune significantly at all? should i stick with the bkre6's? the car ran cool before, but i had a little issue with a roaming idle. now the idle is a lot better (thaat could be just cuz fresh plugs are in there) and it seems like the motor performs better under boost. i think my gas mileage mighta even went up (i just drove from atl to miami last nite)...
i searched but couldnt find a clear answer. my guess is if anything i might run a lil bit rich. i haven't pulled the plugs to check yet though. any info...lemme know. thx!

Re: (Jared)
that's the thing. i bought the car boosted and that's the one thing i didn't check. bkr7e's are pretty much standard on boosted hondas so it didn't even cross my mind when i got the car...
it compression tested perfectly when i got it, it doesn't burn oil...no real issues with the car in the 12,000 miles i put on it since then besides the occasional roaming idle. i figured it was time to put some new plugs in so i bought the bkre7's and gapped them to .30.
i was surprised to to see bkre6's in there when i pulled the plugs. they had normal wear on them too. since colder plugs are recommended and i bought them already i figured may as well try them. that's why i'm asking if it will throw off the tune...cuz if so i'll either get a quick retune or just go back to the bkre6's. but the car runs better to me on the 7s tho...

Re: (trini-gsr)
after a couple hours of reading through old posts...seems like lots of folks have changed heat ranges and gap widths on their plugs without retuning. i just went one step colder so it shouldn't be too significant...and so far so good. guess i'm being paranoid...

just no reason to gap the new plugs down. if the old plugs were perfect at .039 , then i'd gap the new ones at that. You should run as much gap as you can without inducing misfire.

Re: (Jared)
i just went with the recommended gap width since the plug is colder. i think .39-.44 is the recommended width for stock plugs so i wasn't sure it would apply the same. i'll play around with it though. thx everyone for the input.
