Can I temporarily remove the stock o2 sensor to tune it with a wideband? I know this will throw a code, but will the stock computer change the a/f once I put the stock o2 sensor back in? I'm just lazy and don't feel like pulling the downpipe off and welding in another bung and finding a bolt that fits in the bung.

If this matters it's the afc hack on a d16z6. Thanks guys.

the wideband uses a 5 wire o2 sensor.. the one on the car is only a 4 wire. I don't think you can just replace it, but i'm not sure about that. That would be nice though!

yes you replace your primary o2 with the wide band .
there is some sort of junction harness to attacth everything , ask Boosted hybrid, thats how we tune mine on his wide nad set up he has FJO

ahh.. well i'm putting together a DIY kit.. from http://www.diy-wb.com so it's not very high tech or pretty .. but it'll get the job done.. i was just curious if i need the stock o2 sensor in while tuning or can i just replace it after i tune it?

I'm using the 1.5 liter VTEC o2 sensor from the 92-95.. same one as the techedge kit i believe... is there a harness i can get to hook it up to the stock o2 sensor harness as well as the wideband meter so i can use it for both purposes while tuning? thanks.

you can't use a wideband as a stock replacement unless you have some sort of standalone to adjust the range.

if your still running off stock ecu and using something liek the vafc hack you will still need to keep your stock o2 sensor there or else you will definately throw a CEL.

Hondata

In short yes you can remove the stock O2 sensor. This will give an error and cause the ECU to run in open loop. If you are running a Hondata system, you can switch the ECU to run in open loop.

so it would be ok to run in open loop with the CEL thrown just for a little bit until we got a decent tune on it? Or would the tune be totally different once we put the stock o2 sensor back in? thanks!

You can't use the wideband with the stock ECU, unless you run the auxilery wire from the techedge unit to the stock 02 input on the ECU (white wire). This will feed a simulated signal to the ECU so you don't trip a code. I am going to keep the stock 02 in place feeding the ECU and the wideband feeding the techedge (weld in another bung).
If you disconnect your stock 02 or remove it, while you still have your stock ECU, you will throw a code and your car will not get optimum tuning.

so the tune i put on it will be good only when the stock o2 sensor is not connected.. once i connect it back up everything will change? thanks man.. that's a bummer didn't feel like welding in another bung.. where can i get them cheap? and the 18mm plugs too?

this is just a lil tidbit of info but on techedges website it says you shouldnt put the sensor where there is boost,(like manifold) cause youll actually be running leaner then the meter tells you, you should put it on downpipe or something..
