Remote mounted turbochargers: Is this for us?
Hey guys,
This new turbo system just came out on the market and looks like it might have several key advantages over tradiational turbo systems: no intercooler, no excessive heat, no cutting out the front bumper, no drop in fuel effieciency, no tapping the block, simpler installation (at least these are the claims of the manufacturer).

Do you see these becoming more commonplace in a hondas/acuras?

...Better put your flame suit on cause I think you are going to get some flaming real soon
But as for those advantages, I wouldn't see why you wouldn't want to have an intercooler. The charged air is still going to be warm no matter how you think about it (it still runs off the exhaust gases.)
Cons: Don't forget about the extra weight from all the piping.

This isn't that new. Squires Turbo Systems has been around for a few years now.
They don't yet have a kit for imports and I'm not sure they are ever going to come out with one. They did a few imports just for mockup and testing but they haven't started manufacturing any import kits.
Do a search for "STS" or "remote turbo" and you will see that there have been tons of threads about this already.
The kits work well in large displacement engines, or in cars where there isn't much room in the engine bay. They work well on imports as well, but there are many other options out there as far as turbos go that have less lag, are cheaper, and easier to build and install.

I had a feeling this was too good to be true, but before the flamers come out, I did try searching with the words "remote," "sts," and "remote turbo" and came up with nothing. So, I thought that maybe I'd bring something new to the forum. If anyone can conjure up the old threads, however, feel free to give me a link as I'd like to read up on it.
Thx
